Despite splashing the cash and spending £28m on former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees got off to a dreadful start that left them chasing the season. Injuries took their toll on Martinez's squad, but the Spaniard suddenly found himself under pressure to deliver for club owner Bill Kenwright, and he'll hope for a much stronger start this season.
