Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. After the pain of their 3-1 home defeat by Chelsea on Sunday, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City were unable to find a nerve-settling win over Celtic at the Etihad Stadium.
City had already guaranteed a place in the last-16 but the side couldn't improve on second place with Barcelona topping Group C.
Guardiola was looking for a strong response from his side after the weekend's defeat and a convincing victory over the Hoops but he didn't get the confidence booster he was hoping for.
As for Celtic, Brendan Rodgers' side finished bottom and, as a result, head out of Europe without the chance to feature in the Europa League.

15 mins: Celtic look like they've found a way through again as Dembele runs clear but Caballero is equal to it. Dembele was offside anyway but the goalkeeper didn't know that! And he's through again... side netting! Forrest plays a neat ball into the Frenchman and he tries to dink it but the ball falls back to him and he smashes it into the side netting.
GOAL! Basel 0 Arsenal 2 (Perez)
That's two for Perez now and, as it stands, the Gunners are heading through top of the group because PSG are losing at home to Ludogorets!
23 mins: City are pushing back now and twice Celtic have got away with dangerous crosses, first from Sane and then from Nolito.
32 mins: Things have slowed down somewhat now after that rapid first 20 minutes. They've given us all a much-needed breather. More goals now though please!
37 mins: Close from City! Sagna pops up on the left and puts in a low cross which is backheeled towards goal by Iheanacho... and it's a great save by Gordon!Nolito's follow up is blocked.
40 mins: Zabaleta was just the furthest man forward and making a run through the heart of the Celtic defence. It was ruled offside, but that is some adventuring by the Argentine.
44 mins: Roberts goes on another run and ghosts past Clichy who pulls him back. Referee gives a corner but should that have been a penalty? Lustig gets a y ellow card for his protestations.
