The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

43.0 - India 171-6, R Jadeja 54, MS Dhoni 29, L Ferguson 0-25 (8)
India might have an MS Dhoni problem. He isn't hitting the ball cleanly, and he leaves, yes leaves, a Ferguson delivery that dives a foot or so inside of the tramlines. Odd thinking. He likes to take things deep, of course, but he's putting all the pressure on Jadeja. Just three from Ferguson's eighth. India can't afford many fallow overs.
44.0 - India 178-6, R Jadeja 59, MS Dhoni 30, J Neesham 0-45 (7)
Could you have got there Ross Taylor? Jadeja spoons a slower bouncer towards short fine leg but Taylor doesn't seem to pick it up immediately, and in the end parries it away on the bounce.
And again the ball doesn't quite carry! A horrible sound from Jadeja's blade as the ball flies to long-on but Matt Henry, try as he might, can't get to the ball before it hits the grass.
That's better from Ross Taylor. A sliding one handed stop at backward point to save at least two. New Zealand's over, just. 10.33 needed from the last six.
Lockie Ferguson continues, and starts with a toe-crusher that Dhoni can only dig out for a dot.
44.4 - India 187-6, R Jadeja 65, MS Dhoni 33, L Ferguson 0-34 (8.4)
Shot of the day!
Majestic from Jadeja, picking the slower ball, giving himself a bit of room and driving with real style over mid-off, who is inside the circle.
45.0 - India 189-6, R Jadeja 66, MS Dhoni 33, L Ferguson 0-35 (9)
Dhoni lets another ball go! He's 33 from 60 but prepared to take this deeper still with Jadeja firing. Ten from the over.
Trent Boult. He's a fine bowler, but doesn't always excel at the death.
45.3 - India 192-6, R Jadeja 69, MS Dhoni 34, T Boult 1-30 (8.3)
Four from the first three balls, and up comes the 100 partnership between this pair.
46.0 - India 198-6, R Jadeja 74, MS Dhoni 35, T Boult 1-36 (9)
How's your luck, Ravindra Jadeja? Beaten by an off-cutter from Boult but gets just enough on this guide towards third man to beat Tom Latham and add four more to the tally.
Matt Henry has his cap off. Tim Southee is on the field. He's a safe pair of hands in the outfield, particularly down the ground. He and Trent Boult join Kane Williamson in instructing their less experienced teammate. Henry to finish his allocation.
