The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

47.0 - India 203-6, R Jadeja 76, MS Dhoni 38, M Henry 3-37 (10)
Five singles. Henry is done. A marvellous spell, and slower balls seem to be the way to go here.
No leaving Trent Boult for the last. He's going to finish up here. Ferguson and presumably Neesham will have the last two.
47.1 - India 205-6, R Jadeja 76, MS Dhoni 40, T Boult 1-38 (9.1)
Brilliant fielding in the deep! Dhoni picks the gap between the fielders on the leg side boundary and the ball seems to be running away for four, but Mitchell Santner dives round and manages to push the ball back into play. Only two!
47.3 - India 207-6, R Jadeja 77, MS Dhoni 41, T Boult 1-40 (9.3)
Two singles from the next two, including just about the perfect yorker from Boult with a hint of in-movement from a slingy action.
OUT! JADEJA GOES!
Has MS Dhoni put too much pressure on Jadeja? He handed strike back to Jadeja and asked him to hit New Zealand's best bowler, and despite getting a length ball he can only hoist it high into the air, and Kane Williamson (who else?) takes the catch.
R Jadeja c Williamson b Boult 77 (59b 4x4 4x6), India 208-7 (47.5)
48.0 - India 209-7, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0, MS Dhoni 43, T Boult 2-42 (10)
Pulled. There are two there but Dhoni only wants one. 31 needed from the final two overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar can bat, but this will have to be the Dhoni show.
48.1 - India 215-7, B Kumar 0, MS Dhoni 49, L Ferguson 0-41 (9.1)
Just big enough! What a shot!
Short from Ferguson and Dhoni flays away from the body, bat high above his head and underneath it enough to clear a leaping fielder on the cover boundary...
DIRECT HIT! THIS COULD BE THE GAME! MARTIN GUPTILL HITS THE STUMPS AND DHONI MIGHT BE SHORT!
OUT! HE'S AN INCH SHORT!
Utterly superb from Martin Guptill. Dhoni uncomfortably spooned the ball into the leg side and it looked like a comfortable two, but a moment of hesitation leaves Dhoni struggling. It had to be a direct hit - Tom Latham had scuttled after the ball. Guptill delivers! Dhoni falls for 50. Did he leave his launch too late?
That is that, surely?
MS Dhoni run out (Guptill) 50 (72b 1x4 1x6), India 216-8 (48.3)
