From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

7.0 - India 10-3, D Karthik 0, R Pant 5, T Boult 1-3 (4)
Karthik very much in survival mode. Another maiden.
8.0 - India 13-3, D Karthik 0, R Pant 7, M Henry 2-8 (4)
Pant guides a couple with a straight bat to the left of third man and a wide takes the over total up to three. Expensive!
9.0 - India 19-3, D Karthik 6, R Pant 7, T Boult 1-9 (5)
Dinesh Karthik finally gets off the mark from his 21st ball, opening the face of his bat to find a gap between the slips and backward point. There's nobody at third man, and that'll be four.
And he's away. A push down the ground for two to close the over.
9.2 - India 23-3, D Karthik 6, R Pant 11, M Henry 2-12 (4.2)
Shot!
Confidence from Rishabh Pant, batting out of his crease and definite in his forward movement to drive handsomely through the covers for another boundary.
OUT! WHAT A CATCH! UNBELIEVABLE GRAB FROM JIMMY NEESHAM!
That is stunning! A push at a wider ball from Dinesh Karthik and off the outside half of the bat it skews, never getting more than a couple of yards off the floor as it slices to the left of backward point.
Neesham is the fielder and dives full-length at it, scooping it off the floor with his outstretched left-hand. Spectacular!
D Karthik c Neesham b Henry 6 (25b 1x4 0x6), India 24-4 (10)
Now then. Now then now then. No M.S. Dhoni - it's Hardik Pandya at number six.
11.0 - India 30-4, Hardik Pandya 4, R Pant 13, T Boult 1-15 (6)
I don't think anyone was predicting that India would be 24-4 come the end of the first ten overs. Hard to believe that Dhoni has yet to come to the crease with all his experience. Two naturally expressive players - will they look to put the pressure back on New Zealand?
Pandya gets off the mark with a clip to the fine leg boundary as Boult strays down the leg side.
12.0 - India 35-4, H Pandya 4, R Pant 18, M Henry 3-18 (6)
Pant looks good. Henry looks to bounce him but the young left-hander pulls in control, swivelling to direct it around the corner and pick up four more. He's looked the most comfortable of the Indian batsman by a fair distance.
