The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

Umpire's Call for height - the decision stands! Kohli will have to go!
India in real strife with their two best players already back in the hutch. A mournful shake of the head from Kohli as he leaves the pitch. That's the first ball that Boult has really got to move back in to the right-hander, and once the decision went his way it looked likely to be upheld.
V Kohli lbw b Boult 1 (6b 0x4 0x6), India 5-2 (2.4)
Rishabh Pant in. Inside three overs. Not his favoured situation. He's a fine if slightly unorthodox batsman, but he's more of a dasher than a middle overs builder.
3.0 - India 5-2, KL Rahul 1, Rishabh Pant 0, T Boult 1-2 (2)
A wicket maiden from Boult. New Zealand have started perfectly. Still plenty time left for India to rebuild but the two batsmen who can really take charge of a chase have gone.
OUT! ANOTHER! New Zealand are all over India!
This is just good line and length bowling from Matt Henry. He's asked KL Rahul the question and the answer is another fine nick through to Tom Latham.
Slightly shorter than the ball that got Sharma, and a touch wider, but a similar shot, a straight-batted nibbly poke as Rahul is slightly late in the decision to go back to it, and another very simple catch for the gloveman. India are 5-3!
KL Rahul c †Latham b Henry 1 (7b 0x4 0x6), India 5-3 (3.1)
4.0 - India 5-3, Dinesh Karthik 0, R Pant 0, M Henry 2-1 (2)
Back-to-back wicket maidens. Cor blimey!
5.0 - India 6-3, D Karthik 0, R Pant 1, T Boult 1-3 (3)
A worrying glance towards the umpire from Dinesh Karthik after New Zealand launch a stifled appeal with Karthik shouldering arms. Not quite coming back enough. One from the over.
For whatever it is worth, the broadcaster's win predictor reckons India have a 70% chance of victory, which seems optimistic. Henry to bowl his third.
