From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

New Zealand are into the World Cup final after a thrilling win over India.

The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.

New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

Bumrah to close.

49.1 - New Zealand 233-8, Trent Boult 0, M Santner 7, J Bumrah 1-34 (9.1)

Super slow ball clothed to long-on for one. Trent Boult has been promoted to number ten.

49.2 - New Zealand 233-8, T Boult 0, M Santner 7, J Bumrah 1-34 (9.2)

Short, sharp, big swing, miss. Dot ball.

49.3 - New Zealand 235-8, T Boult 2, M Santner 7, J Bumrah 1-36 (9.3)

Contact this time, squirmed past midwicket and they hurry back for two.

49.4 - New Zealand 236-8, T Boult 3, M Santner 7, J Bumrah 1-37 (9.4)

A single to mid-off. Santner back on strike.

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:50

49.5 - New Zealand 238-8, T Boult 3, M Santner 9, J Bumrah 1-39 (9.5)

A 91mph ball in the slot, driven to mid-off but well stopped by KL Rahul. Two more.

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:50

50.0 - New Zealand 239-8, T Boult 3, M Santner 9, J Bumrah 1-39 (10)

Santner misses the swing, the ball trickles away from his thigh pad, and India will need 240 to win.

Well that was all other hectic. I rather enjoyed it. Maybe 3.5/3.5 is the cricket format we've been crying out for. Don't tell the ECB...

Anyway, Ravindra Jadeja was the absolute star this morning, two magic moments in the field. Kumar and Bumrah were typically sound of though and of execution, New Zealand hit only one boundary, and India will be rather happy with their efforts. 240 isn't necessarily a bad score, however, and there's plenty of work to be done with the bat.

A quick turnaround, then, before India start their chase. Trent Boult will be the key, you feel. If he can prey on the vulnerabilities of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to inswing early on you sense New Zealand will have more than a shout of defending this, but if the pair escape the first ten overs unscathed the match will surely be India's.

28 runs, 23 balls, three wickets. Action-packed.

New Zealand have formed a huddle beyond the boundary. They'll have to be better in the field than they were last time out against England when they rather let Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy assert themselves on the contest.
