From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. New Zealand are into the World Cup final after a thrilling win over India.

The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.

New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

Right - the players are back on the Old Trafford outfield, and Ross Taylor and Tom Latham return to the crease. Taylor will be on strike after collecting two from the first ball of Kumar's over.

Five balls to come in the 47th over. Play...again!

47.0 - New Zealand 212-5, T Latham 6, R Taylor 70, B Kumar 1-36 (9)

As you might expect, it isn't the strongest crowd today. Those with tickets for yesterday could return today, but many, quite understandably, have been unable to do so.

Kumar is on straight away. He fires in three perfect yorkers, but New Zealand do well to squeeze them all out, and collect eight from the over with India perhaps a touch slow in the field, allowing two twos from this morning's five balls.

From the other end, Jasprit Bumrah.

48.0 - New Zealand 224-5, T Latham 10, R Taylor 73, J Bumrah 1-32 (9)

It seems New Zealand recognise the risk in going all out attack against Bumrah and Kumar, and are instead looking to find gaps along the ground, happy enough to take two if they mistime it with the field spread.

Bumrah goes to slower balls, his final four deliveries all below 75mph, and from the last there is a direct hit as New Zealand look for another sharp couple...

It's Ravindra Jadeja, of course, and Taylor's struggling...

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:38

OUT! What a fielder Jadeja is!

Taylor's short by a foot-and-a-half. Jadeja was stationed off the fence at deep midwicket, charged in and picked up in quick time and rifled in a low through that thumped into the stumps on the bounce. A direct hit and Ross Taylor is gone.

R Taylor run out (Jadeja) 74 (90b 3x4 1x6), New Zealand 225-6 (48)

Mitchell Santner in. Kumar continues.

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:40

OUT! Him again! Jadeja takes the catch in the deep!

This is a brilliant catch. Jadeja is in 15 yards to guard against the two but Latham connects with this well, a length off-cutter rom Kumar swung to leg from just about the middle of the bat.

It is clearing the boundary but not Jadeja, sprinting backwards, eyes on the ball and thrusting his hands above his head to take a brilliant two-handed catch, going down to a knee to keep himself from touching the advertising triangles. Superb!

T Latham c Jadeja b Kumar 10 (11b 0x4 0x6), New Zealand 225-7 (48.1)

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:40

48.5 - New Zealand 232-7, Matt Henry 1, Mitchell Santner 6, B Kumar 2-43 (9.5)

Jadeja has now saved 41 runs in the field in the tournament according to the broadcaster, more than anyone else. He's played only two games! What a freak!

Santner sits back nicely to punch four through extra-cover.

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 10:45

OUT! Bhuvi has three!

You can't really blame Matt Henry for having a go. Shorter, a great heave to midwicket, a great heave to the hands of Virat Kohli 20 yards in, who takes the catch very nonchalantly and immediately starts setting the field for the next over.

M Henry c Kohli b Kumar 1 (2b 0x4 0x6), New Zealand 232-8 (49)
