It will take time for cricket community to accept David Warner and Steve Smith back, says England's Eoin Morgan

England's faltering World Cup campaign veered further off track as old rivals Australia booked their place in the semi-finals with a 64-run victory at Lord's.

After misadventures against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, England ran aground when chasing for the third time in the tournament, dismissed for an error-strewn 221.

With India and New Zealand still to play, there is now minimal leeway if the world's number one side are to reach the semi-finals of their own competition.

35.3 - England 168-5, B Stokes 87, C Woakes 11, P Cummins 0-31 (6.3)

Hit even harder!

Similar movement, similar shot, played straighter and rocketing past the man at extra cover for four more.

Stokes starting to motor towards his ton.

36.0 - England 173-5, B Stokes 88, C Woakes 15, P Cummins 0-36 (7)

Woakes in on the act! A flashing pull, mis-timed but four nonetheless.

13 from the over. England lining up their charge.

Aaron Finch has gone back to his gun quick. Mitchell Starc back into the attack.

OUT! STOKES IS GONE! A QUITE MAGNIFICENT YORKER FROM MITCHELL STARC!

That is a magic delivery. It's properly full, it's properly quick and Stokes plays the wrong line as he tries to jam the bat down and keep it out.

Late tail on the ball as it picks up the heat signature of the base of off stump and changes its path to find it. A brilliant delivery to end a brilliant knock. Is that it for England's hopes?

B Stokes b Starc 89 (115b 8x4 2x6), England 178-6 (37)

38.0 - England 183-6, Moeen Ali 2, C Woakes 20, P Cummins 0-41 (8)

Moeen Ali has the firepower and the street smarts to do it from here, certainly, but you just feel the wickets will be the issue for England with Starc bowling in this manner and Australia's other bowlers hardly struggling.

Harry Latham-Coyle25 June 2019 17:30

Starc the car? Ben Burrows thinks that may be that for England's chances:

And that that may well finally be that. It's Mitchell Starc, after ripping through the top order, who Aaron Finch turns to hammer what looks to be the final nail in England's coffin. A brilliant effort from Ben Stokes but to no avail. He goes for 89 and with him so, you fear, do England's hopes of a miraculous victory.

39.0 - England 184-6, Moeen Ali 2, C Woakes 21, M Starc 3-32 (7)

Starc goes round the wicket to Chris Woakes. It is from such an angle that he tends to generate his more extreme speeds, but he's quick from both sides of the wicket, as he shows with a 92.2mph low full toss that Moeen Ali does well to keep out.

Harry Latham-Coyle25 June 2019 17:35

Jason Behrendorff returns. It might be a touch mix-and-match from now to the end with overs in the tank for a fair few of Aaron Finch's options.

Harry Latham-Coyle25 June 2019 17:36

OUT! Moeen Ali falls! Caught behind!

A ball after lifting a Behrendorff slower one over extra cover, a quicker one nips away from the left-hander and takes the outside edge as Moeen looks to push this one to long-off, safely claimed by Alex Carey behind the stumps.

M Ali c Carey b Behrendorff 6 (9b 1x4 0x6), England 189-7 (39.3)
