Eoin Morgan's men were on a high after a blistering innings from the skipper himself powered them to a 150-run win over Afghanistan at Old Trafford on Tuesday. But they came crashing down to earth at Headingley as Lasith Malinga shredded their top order on the way to a famous win.
Here's how it played out:

England 70-2 (18 overs)
No change in rhythm after drinks - only a couple of singles in that over by Perera.
There was an appeal for a nick behind off Morgan, but it came to nothing - no review and no edge.
WICKET! England 73-3, Morgan c & b Udana 21 (35) (18.4 overs)
Big wicket for Sri Lanka!
Isuru Udana takes a brilliant grab on his follow through, to a sweetly struck drive by the England captain, he can't believe it!
Morgan departs - England are three down...
England: 73-3 (19 overs)
Stokes sees out the over with two dot balls.
Breakthrough over for Sri Lanka - they're well in this game!
England 76-3 (20 overs) Root 40 (60), Stokes 0 (6)
Three from the over, but Stokes remains on 0 from 6 balls.
30 overs to go. Not panic stations yet for England, but they could do with getting to 100 without losing anymore wickets.
England 77-3 (21 overs)
A solitary single from the over, as Root strokes the ball down to third man.
Very solid line and length from Udana, who has looked a threat since coming into the attack.
England 81-3 (22 overs)
Four singles from six balls, and de Silva continues to prove economical with his spin.
Game being played at a very slow pace at the moment, by and large because of the relatively low target.
That caught and bowled wicket by Udana has come up at a reaction time of 0.44 seconds by the Sri Lankan - stunningly quick reactions!
England 85-3 (23 overs)
Stokes hits his first boundary, as he clips it down leg side for four.
That's the only runs from the over though, as Udana bowls a mixture of quick and slow deliveries.
