From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Eoin Morgan's men were on a high after a blistering innings from the skipper himself powered them to a 150-run win over Afghanistan at Old Trafford on Tuesday. But they came crashing down to earth at Headingley as Lasith Malinga shredded their top order on the way to a famous win.
Here's how it played out:

England 91-3 (25 overs) Root 47 (74), Stokes 7 (21)
Once again, three singles from the over as England crawl like a tortoise to 100...
To give Sri Lanka credit, I can't remember one poor over from any of their bowlers.
We're halfway through - England need 142 runs off 150 balls.
For comparison, Sri Lanka were on 114-3 at this stage...
England 96-3 (26 overs)
JOE ROOT BRINGS UP 50, off the final ball of the over with a simple single down to mid-on.
His fifth 50 of the tournament, and 33rd in ODI cricket. He's some player, but he's still got work to do to see England home here.
England 103-3 (27 overs)
A lovely pull shot leg-side by Ben Stokes for four brings up 100 for England.
Seven off the over.
England 117-3 (28 overs)
Now that's more like it!
Jeevan Mendis goes for 14 as Ben Stokes smashes two sixes down the ground, the first of his front foot and the second off his back foot.
Pure power from Stokes, who moves onto 27!
England 122-3 (29 overs)
Five singles off that over, as Pradeep continues to put in a decent shift.
That expensive Mendis over has relieved some of the pressure for England though.
