The hosts took the morning fourballs 3-1 before keeping that advantage in the afternoon foursomes to take what could prove a decisive 10-6 lead into the final day.

It all gets underway at 7.10am on Saturday morning with the opening fourballs.

Rose & Stenson vs Koepka & Johnson (1UP)
A good birdie for the Europeans to keep it at one after those two monster strikes from the Americans.
Poulter & McIlroy vs Spieth & Thomas
What a final match. So many subplots.
Garcia & Noren vs Watson & Simpson (1UP)
Watson attempts a wonder-hook on the par-5 third but the ball won't obey its masters' orders and stays straight. He's in the trees to the left of the hole. Now it's Noren and he skewers a slice out right. It's ugly.
Rose & Stenson vs Koepka & Johnson (A/S)
And now it's Dustin Johnson's turn. To his defence, he's been left with a horrible lie in the left rough by Koepka on the fourth and the long grass has held his clubface open. It's out of bounds and out of Paris. Back to all square.
Garcia & Noren vs Watson & Simpson (1UP)
Sergio recovers brilliantly from Noren's wayward second and the Swede holes the putt for birdie. Ditto for the Americans from the other side of the hole and it stays at one.
Poulter & McIlroy (1UP) vs Spieth & Thomas
A par is good enough at the first. Thomas' second put the US' sturdy pair in trouble from the off and then he smacks his putt through the break.
Another great start for Rory McIlroy. This was what he said after that thrilling win this morning:
"Any time I didn't hit a great shot Sergio was always on my shoulder with encouragement telling me to come on, and that's great to hear that from someone like him.
"His passion and fire for the Ryder Cup is second to none and it's pretty infectious. It rubs off on me pretty well. We had a great time out there."
Poulter & McIlroy (2UP) vs Spieth & Thomas
And now the Northern Irishman hits a great tee-shot into two. Poulter can't convert this time but Spieth is dumbfounded on the green - even though he's already played the hole three times. He leaves Thomas with a horrible downhill putt for par and it lips out. The Europeans have won both opening holes with pars. Sturdy no more.
Garcia & Noren vs Watson & Simpson (2UP)
The Americans didn't need to do anything special to win that. Garcia leaked his approach into the right bunker and despite a good save from Noren, the Spaniard's nudge from six feet slips by. Again, a par is good enough. That's foursomes.
Molinari & Fleetwood (2UP) vs Woods & DeChambeau
More magic. Woods & DeChambeau are digging away in the rubbish down the right hand side and only manage a bogey. It's still a testing putt for Fleetwood from just over five feet after a great pitch from Molinari but it never leaves the centre. Woods looks beaten and burnt out.
