Haji Wright sent Coventry into the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley after the USA international’s 100th-minute winner secured a 3-2 win to stun Wolves.

In a thrilling quarter-final, the Sky Blues appeared to have squandered their chance at Molineux, having led 1-0 and dominated for large spells, when the Premier League side came from behind to lead 2-1 late thanks to Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno’s goals.

But Ellis Simms’ second goal of the game in the 97th minute appeared to secure extra-time, but Mark Robbins’ side quickly hit their opponents with another fine goal as Wright’s curler three minutes later sent the Championship side into the final four for the first time since 1987.

Coventry will now look forward to Sunday’s semi-final draw before switching focus back to the Championship and their bid for a play-off place.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

78 mins: Lemina is down in the box claiming a penalty and an elbow in the face, but in truth it was excellent defending from Thomas. He held back from committing to the challenge, stood his ground and won the ball fairly in the box.

77 mins: CLOSE! Ait-Nouri wins a free-kick midway into the Coventry half, and there’s an opportunity for a dangerous delivery.

Sarabia crosses in, it’s headed towards the far post by Doherty and Ait-Nouri heads it against the woodwork!

75 mins: There’s a VAR check for a potential red card here, as Nelson Semedo catches O’Hare in the face with a high foot. No foul was given, and the Portuguese full-back is cleared, despite catching O’Hare.

74 mins: CLOSE! Joao Gomes forces a great save from Collins. He hit it early from the edge of the box and it was flying in at the near post, but Collins does well to save.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

71 mins: Wolves are pressing for a winner but aren’t threatening much at the moment. They win a corner as Semedo’s cross is turned behind by Bidwell. The ball in is easily claimed by Bradley Collins.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

69 mins: Coventry make their first substitution as Kasey Palmer comes off for Callum O’Hare. A performance to be proud of from Palmer, who was at the heart of much of Coventry’s good play.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

66 mins: CLOSE! Wolves lose the ball trying to play long, and Coventry have it once again. Wright is sent through on the right, and he cuts in and hits a venomous shot that Sa manages to save. Sa manages to collect the ball but he gives it away to Palmer on the edge of the box. Palmer tries to chip Sa, who is miles out of his goal, but his effort sails narrowly wide. He thought he’d scored, and Coventry should really be two ahead.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

64 mins: Coventry threaten to break but Simms doesn’t see Wright – who would’ve been clean through – and he’s eventually dispossessed.

Wolves 0-1 Coventry

61 mins: Wolves are certainly turning the screw now as they look to equalise. They win a free-kick on the edge of the box after a clumsy foul. Doyle takes, and he tries to whip it into the top-right corner, but it flies just over the bar.
