Follow live reaction as West Ham fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final. West Ham’s first European semi-final in 46 years got off to a nightmare start - as Ansgar Knauff arrived late at the back post to head Eintracht Frankfurt ahead after just 48 seconds.

The hosts kept their composure and scored a deserved equaliser through Michail Antonio, after Jarrod Bowen had hit the post, and the striker stretched to steer Kurt Zouma’s knock-down over the line from a set-piece.

But it would be Eintracht Frankfurt who struck the next blow, as Daichi Kamada’s goal saw the visitors retake the lead as he eventually finished off a slick move through the West Ham defence. West Ham were frustrated in the closing stages, with Kamada coming closest as his shot deflected off Craig Dawson and onto the post.

And in stoppage time Bowen rattled the underside of the crossbar with a spectacular overhead kick as Frankfurt held on for the first-leg victory. It leaves West Ham with work to do in Germany next week. Relive the action from West Ham vs Eintracht Frankfurt, below:

Here come the players ready for the second half. If West Ham in any way underestimated Frankfurt coming into this game then they certainly won’t after that first 45 minutes.

Second half coming up people. I really couldn’t tell you which way this is going. But there WILL be more goals. I can (almost) guarantee you that.

Half-time: That’s all she wrote for the first 45 minutes of this Europa League semi-final tie.

Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead after just 49 seconds through Ansgar Knauff when he stormed in at the back post to head the visitors in front and stun the London Stadium.

But West Ham pulled level midway through the half through Michail Antonio when he converted Kurt Zouma’s header back across goal.

Before that, Jarrod Bowen hit the post. But Frankfurt have probably looked the more threatening and should have done better with one or two attacks in that first period.

Could go either way. Don’t go anywhere.

45 mins: Trapp claims the corner. One minute of added time at the end of this intriguing first half.

West Ham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

45 mins: Bowen turns delightfully away from three Frankfurt challenges but Rode is snapping back at his heels and wins the ball well with a slide tackle.

West Ham then find Soucek in the box but his cross-shot is blocked and away for a corner.

West Ham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

44 mins: You get the sense West Ham will be pleased to go in level. They have enjoyed a lot of the ball but Frankfurt look very dangerous whenever they go forward.

West Ham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

42 mins: Another set-piece opportunity for West Ham but they don’t make the most of this one.

They play it short to Declan Rice and he ends up running down a blind alley with the ball before Frankfurt clear the danger. A waste.

West Ham 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

40 mins: BIG CHANCE! Frankfurt nearly back in front.

A Jarrod Bowen corner is cleared and the German side break rapidly in numbers. Kamada picks out Rode and he plays it in for Lindstrom inside the box. Cresswell initially does superb with a sliding recovery challenge but Lindstrom still gets to the ball. He has his back to goal but turns and tries to beat the sprawling Areola, only for his effort to fizz just past the post.

Let off for West Ham. Frankfurt are so, so quick in transition.
