Follow live reaction as West Ham fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final. West Ham’s first European semi-final in 46 years got off to a nightmare start - as Ansgar Knauff arrived late at the back post to head Eintracht Frankfurt ahead after just 48 seconds.

The hosts kept their composure and scored a deserved equaliser through Michail Antonio, after Jarrod Bowen had hit the post, and the striker stretched to steer Kurt Zouma’s knock-down over the line from a set-piece.

But it would be Eintracht Frankfurt who struck the next blow, as Daichi Kamada’s goal saw the visitors retake the lead as he eventually finished off a slick move through the West Ham defence. West Ham were frustrated in the closing stages, with Kamada coming closest as his shot deflected off Craig Dawson and onto the post.

And in stoppage time Bowen rattled the underside of the crossbar with a spectacular overhead kick as Frankfurt held on for the first-leg victory. It leaves West Ham with work to do in Germany next week. Relive the action from West Ham vs Eintracht Frankfurt, below:

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

72 mins: Bowen escapes his marker midway inside the Frankfurt half and drives at the visitors’ backline.

He tries to slide Benrahma in down the left channel but Tuta is there to intercept as groans echo around the London Stadium once more. Frustrating.

70 mins: West Ham have looked more dangerous in the last couple of minutes since the introduction of Benrahma.

But the home side still look open at the back as Kamada tries to feed a ball in behind but it rolls through to Areola.

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

68 mins: CHANCE! Well, Rice’s free-kick hit the first man but he then laid it off to Benrahma whose curling, bending, dipping shot grazes the post on its way wide.

The sub makes an instant impact. That was inches away!

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

68 mins: Bowen does brilliantly to skip past two Frankfurt shirts and stand up a cross. It evades all the West Ham attackers but Benrahma picks it up on the other side and wins a free-kick in a dangerous position.

Good opportunity to send this into the box and put the Frankfurt defenders under pressure.

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

66 mins: Cresswell delivers a decent ball into the box which flicks off a Frankfurt boot and away for a corner. That gets the crowd going after a difficult 15 minutes for the home side.

The corner is flicked away at the first time of asking. Bowen sends it back in and when it drops to Fornals he scuffs his effort wide of the near post.

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

64 mins: Zouma gives away a free-kick midway inside his own half. It’s clipped in by Kostic and Rice gets a superb leap to head clear.

It’s all Frankfurt. West Ham need to ride out the storm.

West Ham 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

62 mins: Aside from those brief attacks from West Ham, Frankfurt have largely controlled possession since they scored their second goal.

David Moyes needs to change something. You can feel this one slipping through their fingertips as Frankfurt begin to silkily knock the ball around.
