The January transfer window is nearing its climax with Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and more expected to be busy before the deadline.

Alexis Sanchez is finally a Manchester United player and made his debut as his new side swept aside Yeovil on Friday night. Jose Mourinho isn't stopping there though with a new central midfielder now on his shopping list. Arsenal are bedding Henrikh Mkhitaryan in but Arsene Wenger is keen to add at least one more new face before the window shuts with deals for Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and West Brom's Jonny Evans set to go down to the wire.

Manchester City are closing in on a new central defender with Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte set to arrive imminently while Chelsea's search for a new striker continues with talks over Roma's Edin Dzeko ongoing. Could Arsenal's Olivier Giroud arrive instead before the month is out?

We will have all the latest news throughout the day right here.

Manchester City fans could be left shocked at the prospect of losing their star striker, Sergio Aguero.

The Sun reports that a possible deal may be in place to send the Argentinian back to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

While it would seem unlikely boss Pep Guardiola would want to lose the 29-year-old, the Spanish club are looking for someone to team up with Diego Costa, and Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann is on City's radar - setting up a possible switch, the paper says.

With a medical passed, all that is left to finalise Vicente Guaita's move from Getafe to Crystal Palace is agreement on when it will take place.

The Daily Mail reports that talks are still ongoing on whether the 31-year-old will join Palace for free in the summer or at the end of this January's transfer window - but with a £3.5million release clause in tow.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has played down reports linking him with a move away from the club.

The 31-year-old, who in the summer of 2016 turned down the chance to join Arsenal, has this month been linked with Everton and reigning Premier League champions Chelsea.

Chelsea are known to be looking for another striker as Blues boss Antonio Conte wants to ease the burden on Alvaro Morata.

But ahead of Leicester's FA Cup fourth-round tie away at League One side Peterborough on Saturday Vardy insists he is committed to the Foxes.

When asked about the speculation, he said: "Who have I been linked with today? Chelsea, they've been linked with everybody haven't they?

"You just have to take things like this with a pinch of salt, it's just rumours. Usually it all gets started by someone throwing a few quid on it at the bookies.

"I'm a Leicester player and I'm just concentrating on Leicester until the club tell me otherwise and we will be looking to progress to the next round of the cup."

Arsene Wenger has revealed he may resort to playing new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan out of position in order to accommodate him in his starting XI.

Mkhitaryan completed his transfer to the club last week, with Alexis Sanchez moving to Manchester United in exchange.

The Armenian was cup-tied for Arsenals recent win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg, but is in line to feature against Swansea next week.

However, Wenger admitted he is not yet certain on how to fit Mkhitaryan into his team, and said the playmaker could even feature in a “box-to-box” role.

Antonio Conte has been asked about his future at Chelsea.

Again.

"Nothing has changed. There was the summer, then after the summer nothing has changed.

"I am happy. I am happy to work for this club"

Conte was typically cagey about possible signings, adding: "The club will inform you if there is news.

"As I said before, I think I'm repeating every three days, I would be very happy to continue to work with my players. I would be very happy if there are some new players. It doesn't change my opinion, my mind only three days (on).

"I think it's right to have this type of situation (the club organising transfers).

"I'm repeating always the same thing. I'm the coach. My task is to try to do the best for this club, to try to improve my players for this club."

For the first time since he arrived in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo is not deemed “unsellable”.

Indeed, it’s hard not to get the impression that in an ideal world, Florentino Perez would merely swap Ronaldo for Neymar, to start a new era with a new focal point.

Here's Miguel Delaney on Real Madrid's big decision.

Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko as one of the team's most important players this season.

Sissoko has come in for criticism from a section of Spurs supporters, despite playing in all but one of his side's Premier League games this term.

Even when Christian Eriksen missed last weekend's draw against Southampton through illness, Pochettino picked the Frenchman in a more offensive position and left Erik Lamela on the bench.

Sissoko initially struggled to live up to expectations after leaving Newcastle for £30million in August 2016 but Pochettino says he now offers Tottenham something no other player can.

"He has been one of our most important players," Pochettino said.

"You have to give the credit to him because he is the only player who gives or provides balance in those transitions - offensive to defensive, defensive to offensive - in the team.

"There is no other player in the team who can provide that. This is the best quality he provides to the team."

Pep Guardiola is also speaking this lunchtime and he's been asked about Aymeric Laporte and Manchester City's interest in the Athletic Bilbao central defender.

"He's a player of Athletic Bilbao. You will know if it happens, if it doesn't, it won't happen.

"There were players in the past we were interested in, there will be in the future. We will try to do the best we can."

Aberdeen have completed the signing of Hamilton defender Michael Devlin, the Dons have announced.

Derek McInnes has beaten former Accies boss Alex Neil - who had hoped to lure the Lanarkshire outfit's captain to Preston - after handing the 24-year-old a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Devlin - who spent 18 months at Pittodrie as a teenager - rejoins his former club for an undisclosed fee but will have to wait to make his debut as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury sustained at the end of last season.
