Tottenham kept themselves in the top-four race with a 5-0 hammering of Everton, who are in grave relegation danger after a gutless showing in north London. Spurs have been inconsistent in recent weeks but showed their best as, after Michael Keane’s own goal put them ahead early on, they ran riot, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon also netting.

It was another Kane masterclass, with his second goal a particular highlight, and he took his tally to 14 goals in 15 games against Everton. This was as bad a performance as the Toffees have put in this season and there has been no bounce under Frank Lampard, with a fourth loss in five league games since he took over. There is little doubt that they are involved in a relegation dogfight as they are just a point above 18th-placed Burnley, though they do have a game in hand.

Spurs equalled their best ever Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will now have real belief that they can gate-crash the Champions League qualification places. Follow the reaction and analysis after Spurs thrash Everton in the Premier League:

Tottenham 0 - 0 Everton

9 mins: Anthony Gordon looks to run in behind and chase down a long ball for Everton but he gets cut off by a Ben Davies body check and doesn’t even win a free kick.

As Tottenham bring the ball back down the pitch it comes to Harry Kane who threads a pass out to Son Heung-min with the outside of his boot. Son carries it into the box but Gordon sprints back and tackles him before he gets a shot away!

6 mins: Donny van de Beek gets stopped from making a driving run through midfield by Rodrigo Bentancur who just tugs at his shirt and holds him back. Everton win a free kick and work it back to the defensive line.

Jonjoe Kenny takes the ball up the pitch and flicks a pass over the top. Dominic Calvert-Lewin keeps himself onside and brings the ball under control in the box. He can’t create enough space to shoot but does well to keep possession and hold up the ball long enough for his teammates to arrive in the final third.

Tottenham 0 - 0 Everton

3 mins: Richarlison has started out on the left side of the front three for Everton with Anthony Gordon on the right and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the centre. The Brazilian feeds the ball across to Calvert-Lewin whose first touch is poor and gives the ball to Ben Davies.

Tottenham then work the ball into midfield where Harry Kane drops deep to receive the pass. He’s pressed by Mason Holgate who leaves a bit too much on the forward with a solid tackle and gives Spurs a free kick.

Kick off: Tottenham get the match underway and work the ball over to Ben Davies on the left side of the pitch. He sends a forward pass up to Harry Kane on the inside left channel but Kane is put under pressure immediately and Everton take the ball off him and boot it out for a throw in.

Tottenham vs Everton: Antonio Conte suggests Dele Alli will go ‘down, not up’ after leaving Tottenham

Antonio Conte says players who leave his coaching behind usually go "down, not up," as he discussed Dele Alli‘s switch from Tottenham to Everton.

After finding himself on the fringes of Conte’s plans, Alli left Spurs in January on a permanent transfer to Goodison Park, where he has struggled to make an impression so far under Frank Lampard.

The 25-year-old midfielder returns to north London to face Conte’s Tottenham side for the first time on Monday night, and Conte believes it was the right decision to find pastures new.

Everton have the division’s worst away record, earning just six points all season.

They are winless in 10 successive Premier League away games within a season for the first time since they failed to win any of their final 11 league away fixtures of 2003-04.

The last time Spurs lost their opening three league home games of a calendar year was in 1994, when they lost their first four under Ossie Ardiles.

A sign in their favour this evening is that Antonio Conte is unbeaten in all six matches as a manager against Everton across all competitions.
