Tottenham kept themselves in the top-four race with a 5-0 hammering of Everton, who are in grave relegation danger after a gutless showing in north London. Spurs have been inconsistent in recent weeks but showed their best as, after Michael Keane’s own goal put them ahead early on, they ran riot, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon also netting.

It was another Kane masterclass, with his second goal a particular highlight, and he took his tally to 14 goals in 15 games against Everton. This was as bad a performance as the Toffees have put in this season and there has been no bounce under Frank Lampard, with a fourth loss in five league games since he took over. There is little doubt that they are involved in a relegation dogfight as they are just a point above 18th-placed Burnley, though they do have a game in hand.

Spurs equalled their best ever Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will now have real belief that they can gate-crash the Champions League qualification places. Follow the reaction and analysis after Spurs thrash Everton in the Premier League:

Tottenham 3 - 0 Everton

40 mins: Four shots from Spurs, three on target and three goals scored. They were clinical against Leeds last time out in the league and have been clinical again tonight. Antonio Conte will be a happy man. Everton need to get into the break and regroup. It’s a long way back for them now.

GOAL! Tottenham 3 - 0 Everton (Kane, 37’)⚽️

37 mins: Everton don’t deal with this though! Hugo Lloris knocks the ball up the pitch where it drops to Dejan Kulusevski. He takes it into the middle of the pitch and lays the ball to Matt Doherty who flicks it over to Harry Kane making a run through the lines. He stays onside and brings the ball into the area before guiding a cool finish past Jordan Pickford.

Tottenham 2 - 0 Everton

33 mins: A short corner routine almost comes off for Tottenham as Son passes the ball into the box. Bentancur loses his marker and quickly gives it back to the South Korean who lays another low pass into the six-yard box for Kane.

Luckily for Everton Seamus Coleman spots Kane’s run and goes with him blocking the shot just in front of the near post and giving Spurs another corner that the Toffees then deal with.

Tottenham 2 - 0 Everton

30 mins: Cristian Romero joins Son in the book after hacking down Richarlison. He protests that he won the ball first but he got nowhere near it.

Anthony Gordon swings the resultant free kick into the box and sends it straight into the hands of Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham 2 - 0 Everton

27 mins: Chance! Everton push high up the pitch and lose the ball. Tottenham then bypass the midfield with a simple pass into midfield where Matt Doherty guides the ball over to the inside left channel for Son. He brings the ball into the box and looks to open up the far bottom corner only to have his effort charged down by Jordon Pickford. The rebound comes awkwardly to Harry Kane who hits volley towards goal but sends it just wide of the left-hand post!

24 mins: Anthony Gordon brings the ball inside from the right wing and weaves around Ryan Sessegnon leaving him on the deck close to the halfway line. He continues his run into the Tottenham box but gets clipped by a back-tracking Son Heung-min who picks up the first yellow card of the game.

Tottenham 2 - 0 Everton

22 mins: Son has been involved in 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League games. Everton haven’t really responded since going behind. Spurs have been controlling the ball winning the battles in midfield. The visitors need to pick themselves up here.

GOAL! Tottenham 2 - 0 Everton (Son, 17’)⚽️

17 mins: It’s two! It’s a lovely cutting move from Tottenham as Eric Dier sends the ball across to Cristian Romero. He feeds it up to Harry Kane who passes it inside to Dejan Kulusevski. He knocks the ball into the box as Son Heung-min runs in between the two Everton centre-backs. When he gets to the loose ball he fires a low shot back across goal. Jordan Pickford dives low to his right and should keep it out but the ball sneaks underneath him and rolls into the back of the net!

GOAL! Tottenham 1 - 0 Everton (Keane OG, 14’)⚽️

14 mins: Spurs take the lead! Eric Dier brings the ball into Tottenham’s half and passes it out to Ben Davies who has pushed wide on the left wing. He sends the ball up alongside the box where Ryan Sessegnon sprints in behind and carries the ball to the byline. He cuts a pass into the six-yard box where Harry Kane and Michael Keane both throw themselves at the ball. Kane misses it but the ball strikes Keane and bounces into the back of the net!

Tottenham 0 - 0 Everton

12 mins: Everton win a free kick wide on the right wing that Anthony Gordon swings into the penalty area. The cross doesn’t beat the first defender and Spurs head it away but Everton recover possession. They knock it back over to Gordon who’s pushed a touch higher on the right hand side. This time his cross is too deep and flies over everyone’s heads allowing Spurs to eventually clear their lines.
