From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Newcastle United host Arsenal in the 1330 BST kick-off at St James’ Park with both sides on the fringes of their respective Premier League battles.

For the Gunners, the top four is now out of sight and they are content with chasing Chelsea in fifth above them while holding off the charge of Burnley from below.

Newcastle meanwhile are sitting pretty above the relegation scrap, seemingly safe on 38 points, and can now target a top-half finish which would be an impressive achievement from a squad which many experts tipped to struggle this season.

Arsenal are still without an away point in 2018 and have equaled their worst total number of defeats in a Premier League season (11).

Are Atletico Madrid licking their lips looking at this? Mind you, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey were all rested.

Team News

Jose Mourinho makes two changes from the side which beat Manchester City last week. Victor Lindelof comes in for Eric Bailly, who is not in the squad, and Juan Mata is preferred to Jesse Lingard.

The Manchester United boss confirmed that playing Lidnelof over Bailly is tactical. "We need someone from the back to add extra technical quality," and pointed to United's three games in a week as a reason why he's not even on the bench.

West Brom caretaker manager Darren Moore names an unchanged side but Daniel Sturridge returns to the bench after injuring himself against Chelsea on the 12th February.

Jose Mourinho responds to Martial exit talks

Anthony Martial has dropped down the pecking order at Manchester United and is reportedly unhappy with his game time.

“Only 11 can start so the same questions you are doing to me, you should do to every other manager because everyone has players in the same situation.”
