From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It's a return to normality after last weekend's round of FA Cup fixtures and while there may be a shortage of eye-catching clashes, there's still plenty to get stuck into.

With six of the bottom seven sides in action, today could prove to be a significant turning point as the battle for survival heats up.

Crystal Palace host fellow relegation rivals Middlesbrough in a crunch match for the two struggling sides. With three precious points up the grabs, expect fireworks.

Elsewhere, Sunderland travel to Goodison Park in an difficult fixture for David Moyes' men while Hull take on Burnley at the KCOM Stadium.

League leaders Chelsea welcome the resurgent Swans to Stamford Bridge, Bournemouth travel to West Brom and Watford round up proceedings at Vicarage Road as they go head-to-head with London rivals West Ham.

The players emerge from a darkened tunnel at Vicarage Road to a...well...darkened stadium. The floodlights are on at full pelt, but it's navy sky that covers the ground as the sun disappears for the day.

The fixture is the very emphasis of a midtable match up. Watford find themselves in 13th place in the Premier League, but could leap their tenth-placed opponents with a win.

Minute-by-minute action is next.

KICK-OFF: It's the visitors who begin the final match of the day, playing from left to right on a beautifully crisp, green surface. There were six goals scored when these sides met at the London Stadium back in September. With just one natural striker on the pitch tonight, a repeat seems unlikely. We will have to wait and see how this one pans out.

2 mins: PENALTY TO WATFORD!

Well, that didn't take long! Awful play from Cheikhou Kouyate, who allowed Mauro Zarate to run on to Troy Deeney's inside pass, and then decided to bundle into the back of Watford's Argentine forward. Craig Pawson had no hesitation in pointing for an early penalty, and West Ham have shot themselves in the foot inside two minutes at Vicarage Road.

3 mins: GOAL! WATFORD 1 WEST HAM 0:

Troy Deeney's fine goalscoring form continues, and the Watford captain now has four in five Premier League games. Stepping up right-footed, the striker buries a low shot into the bottom right corner of Darren Randolph's goal and the home side lead.
