From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It's a return to normality after last weekend's round of FA Cup fixtures and while there may be a shortage of eye-catching clashes, there's still plenty to get stuck into.

6 mins: Watford tails are up, and they sense a second. M'Baye Niang, on loan from AC Milan, burst forward from midfield and fizzed a 25-yard shot just over Darren Randolph's crossbar. Slaven Bilic's side need to pull themselves together.
9 mins: Half a chance for the Hammers as Manuel Lanzini takes aim following Sofiane Feghouli's knock down. It's Daryl Janmaat's to Watford's rescue with a well-timed block.
13 mins: It's settled down into an open end-to-end affair. After Miguel Britos was fortunate not to slice into his own-goal at one end, Watford broke forward with Holebas firing in a shot from outside the box that took a deflection and disappeared behind for the game's first corner.
17 mins: A big chance for Robert Snodgrass! Feghouli got the better of a dawdling Holebas to cut in from the right before squaring for the former Hull winger. Space in the Watford box looked to have opened up at exactly the right time for Snodgrass to level, but somehow Younes Kaboul got across to block.
21 mins: Mauro Zarate is down and in considerable discomfort, but only after the Argentine himself had committed a bad foul on Feghouli. The forward stepped across his opponent and brought studs down on his ankle, but seemed to twist his ankle in the process. After some treatment, Zarate heads off the pitch to immediately return.
24 mins: The Hammers are huffing and puffing, but showing few signs of creativity in the final third. If they are to conjure anything, it's likely to be through the talent of Sofiane Feghouli, who seems to be settling into his role at West Ham even if nobody else is. A second corner for the visitors come to nothing.
28 mins: This game may have peaked 105 seconds in. After the early excitement of that Watford penalty, it's all been terribly unexciting. Or excitedly terrible. Sigh. What time does The Voice start?
33 mins: One shot on target so far - and it separates the two teams.
