From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

32: A cross field ball finds Davy Propper who chests it towards Glenn Murray. He moves it on to Pascal Gross who gets a shot away but he's off balance and Petr Cech clears up.
36: Only Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero have scored more goals in 2018 then Glenn Murray.
38: Arsenal win a corner which is easily cleared. Brighton look to break and Sead Kolasinac breaks up the play with a foul.
40: Jack Wilshere gets a yellow card for bringing down Anthony Knockaert who was charging at the defence after getting in the Arsenal half. A clever freekick finds José Izquierdo who thinks he beats the offside trap as he collects the ball in space on the right but the flag is up.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
A weird moment at the Amex as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scores but you could hear a pin drop. Granit Xhaka has the ball on the left corner of the box and fires a low ball to Aubameyang who is around the back post and he flicks the ball into the net.
44: That's the first time that Brighton switched off and Arsenal punished them. The goal will hugely disappoint Chris Hughton who has seen his side deliver his game plan to perfection for 40 minutes.
45+1: Matthew Ryan misses his catch at a corner and Brighton clear but Arsenal come back. Another cross is fired into the middle and Laurent Koscielny heads onto the post!
Half Time
Lewis Dunk opened the scoring with an opportunistic finish from Shane Duffy's knock down at a corner. Glenn Murray then deservedly doubled Brighton's lead when he beat Sead Kolasinac at the back post to head in his 13th goal in all competitions this season.
Arsenal were very poor but scored just before half time when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turned in Granit Xhaka's low cross.
