From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

14: On Sky Sports, Alan Smith says it's time for Arsenal's best players to stand up and be counted. "This is when the top players have step up, they've got to lead by example."
Lewis Dunk's goal was his first in the Premier League. He's previously scored four own goals!
15: Mesut Ozil drives forward and tried to slip the ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the pass is behind him and it clips the forward's heel in the box.
17: José Izquierdo collects the ball on the right and strolls into the Arsenal half unopposed. He gets the ball onto his right foot and blasts a shot towards goal which is deflected behind for a corner. Brighton cross the ball into the middle and Lewis Dunk rises highest but heads over.
20: What a chance for 2-0. Alex Iwobi tries to clear the ball but Anthony Knockaert closes him down and Pascal Gross steals the ball. He plays a clever back heel to Knockaert who is one-on-one and Petr Cech does well to make a low save.
23: Another corner is met in the middle by a Brighton player. This time it's Shane Duffy who gets up unchallenged and heads over. How many times are Arsenal going to let these two towering defenders get to the ball before they do?
Alan Smith on Sky Sports says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a shadow of the player Arsenal bought. "He looks a bit short on confidence, legs and energy, he just needs a goal."
Glenn Murray
Brighton 2-0 Arsenal
26: Laurent Koscielny gives the ball away and Brighton work it to Pascal Gross on the right wing. He swings a cross to the back post and Glenn Murray beats Sead Kolasinac in the air and his downward header goes in under Petr Cech.
