From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The players are back in the dressing rooms and receiving their final instructions. How do you see this one finishing? I'm going for a 2-2 draw, yes I want drama!
Kick off is around five minutes away and as always, you can follow all the action as it unfolds at the Amex right here.
2: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang steals the ball on the halfway line, drives Arsenal forward and wins a corner. The set piece is easily cleared and the Gunners recycle possession.
3: Henrikh Mkhitaryan has started on the left with Alex Iwobi on the right. Perhaps that is to offer Callum Chambers a little more protection at right back. I can't imagine Mkhitaryan would be too thrilled to track back.
4: Mesut Ozil has the first sight of goal but curls over an effort from outside the area. That small chance came after Brighton struggled to clear their lines.
6: Lewis Dunk almost scores his fifth own goal of the season and will breathe a sigh of relief as the ball flies over his bar after swinging a leg at Callum Chambers' cross.
Lewis Dunk
6: Ezequiel Schelotto drives Brighton forward and earns a corner. Pascal Gross takes the set piece which is bundled in by Lewis Dunk. Shane Duffy beats Petr Cech at the back post and heads the ball back into the danger area, Dunk reacts quickest and volleys into the net.
