Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Bournemouth take on Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium as two of the Premier League's mid-table staples bid to stake a claim for the top half of the league.

Palace come into the game three points behind the Cherries having ended a run of three straight defeats with a win over Huddersfield and a frustrating goalless draw against Newcastle.

Bournemouth's fast start to the season came to a strange halt at Burnley where they were thrashed 4-0, but Eddie Howe's side can climb up to seventh in the table with all three points tonight.

A lovely raking 60-yard pass from Steve Cook very nearly sets Ryan Fraser free but the Scotsman slips when controlling the ball.

Good work from Simon Francis to stop Wilfried Zaha from getting past him, and the right-back prevents a corner, too.

Jefferson Lerma has had a couple of solid early touches. He finds Brooks but his pass through is easily cut out.

First save of the evening. Asmir Begovic gets down to claim a dipping shot from Max Meyer that never really threatened.

Adam Smith and Ryan Fraser are working well on Bournemouth's left-hand side and earn a corner.

Jefferson Lerma has a shot blocked, and from a resulting ball in Nathan Ake cannot produce the desired power to divert it goal wards. It bounces harmlessly away for a goal-kick.

The game is allowed to settle for the first time. Bournemouth look really comfortable in possession, with both Lerma and Lewis Cook using the ball nicely in the centre-of-the-park.

Crystal Palace make a string of last-ditch challenges as Ryan Fraser and Josh King look to get into the box.

The Cherries nearly work another opening but Brooks can't get a shot away.

Palace break and Andros Townsend is slipped in but can't find a teammate with his cross.

It has really opened up - a better ball and Lewis Cook was steaming in on goal after surging forward from midfield.
