Man Utd 2-2 Sevilla: Late goals cancel out Marcel Sabitzer’s first half brace
Manchester United squandered a two goal lead at Old Trafford to keep their Europa League quarter-final with Sevilla delicately poised after the first leg.
Jadon Sancho had a goal disallowed after just 27 seconds for an offside before Marcel Sabitzer opened the scoring inside 15 minutes. He swept inside of Marcao and curled a left-footed strike past Bono to find the back of the net.
The Austrian added a second seven minutes later as Anthony Martial picked him out in the box and he fizzed a fine effort into the far corner to give United control in a dominant first half.
The second 45 minutes were a closer affair. Sevilla grew into the game and targeted Tyrell Malacia who struggled all night. Jesus Navas forced an own goal to get the visitors back into the match before an unfortunate Harry Maguire deflected a header from Youssef En-Nesyri past David De Gea to earn the Spaniards a draw.

And they can’t hold on! What a collapse for United and Sevilla have somehow rescued a result from this game. The ball comes in from the right and En-Nesyri rises supremely to meet the cross. It’s going miles wide but it cannons off the head of Maguire and ends up in the bottom right corner. A huge slice of fortune for the Spanish but they won’t care one bit!

SAVE! 90 mins: Six minutes for United to hold on...and they almost don’t! En-Nesyri wins the header against Malacia and De Gea gets down well to his right to palm away the effort.

86 mins: From bad to worse for United. Martinez is on the ball and goes down with no one around him. He’s carried off the pitch holding his ankle by two Sevilla players but it doesn’t look good for the Argentine centre-back.
United have used all their subs and will have to manage the rest of the game with ten men.

Where has that come from? Old Trafford is stunned into silence but the pocket of Sevilla fans go wild in their corner of the ground. An innocuous ball is floated in from the right but Malacia lets it go not realising that Navas is behind him.
The former City winger fires a cross into the box but it deflects off Malacia and then De Gea and into the net. That changes this game hugely and Sevilla are right back in the tie.

81 mins: CHANCE! Pellistri is off the bench and straight into the action down the right. The ball eventually squirms into the box and finds Weghorst but the striker has his back to go. He lays it back onto the onrushing Malacia but his strike is blocked behind for a corner.
The first set piece is cleared but Casemiro heads the second attempt over the bar.

80 mins: Another change for United and this time it is Antony making way. He nearly scored United’s third but he’ll now make way for Pellistri.

75 mins: This second half has flown by without a great deal of action. You suspect United won’t be unhappy with that but there’s also a real opportunity to put this tie to bed if they can find a third before full-time.

72 mins: Acuna and Antony resume their duel down the Sevilla left and this time it is the left-back who is booked as he pulls back Antony off the ball.
A moment later, Sevilla turn to their bench again with an attacking change as Nianzou departs for Suso.
