Manchester United vs Sevilla LIVE: Result and reaction as own goals cost United in Europa League quarter-final

On the game: “We had the game in our hands. We should have scored three or four if I’m honest and then we had some unlucky moments with injuries. We had to make some subs because of injuries and bookings and we lost control. We switched off and then it was another unlucky moment with Martinez and then we are down to 10.

On the injuries to Martinez and Varane: “It doesn’t look that great but we have to wait but I can’t say at this moment. The same with Varane, I haven’t spoken with him after the game, but that is an injury he’s been complaining about over the last couple of weeks so we have to see how it’s now.”

Crikey, that is some collapse from a United perspective. To make matters worse, they will definitely be without Fernandes in the second leg after the midfielder picked up a yellow card.

Both Varane and Martinez left the pitch with injuries as well - Martinez, in particular, looked to be in some discomfort. Troubling signs for the Red Devils.

This Old Trafford crowd is shell-shocked into silence. It all looked so comfortable and yet as the full-time whistle goes, United have to settle for a draw. Sabitzer had put them two goals to the good after 21 minutes and United must now rue taking their foot off the gas in the second half.

Sevilla were not at their best but two late own goals - after deflections off Malacia and Maguire - mean they have rescued a draw deep into injury time. That’s a massive result for them and United now face a tough ask in the second leg away in Spain next week.
