This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Everton are looking a little shaky at the back, but at the moment they're doing enough to frustrate Liverpool. Branthwaite wins it back and hooks it upfield for Doucoure, but Van Dijk gets to it first.

SAVE! Szoboszlai lays it off to Mac Allister, and the space opens up for him through the middle, so he tries his luck. He drills a powerful shot at Pickford, who initially spills it but reacts quickly to get there ahead of Jota.

Tarkowski is late getting across to Gravenberch and cuts out his run. He can have no complaints about the booking.

Young takes a loose touch which sends the ball straight out of play, and then he kicks it away to stop Liverpool from being able to take a quick throw-in. The Liverpool fans in front of it are asking for a second yellow card, but it doesn't come.

Everton just can't keep hold of the ball at the moment. Pickford goes long from a goal-kick, and Young just manages to keep it in play, but from there Liverpool quickly win it back once more.

Garner slides in to win it off Gravenberch, and Onana spots Alisson a long way out of his box. He attempts an audacious effort from the edge of the centre circle in his own half, but slices at it, causing the keeper no problems.

CHANCE! Alexander-Arnold touches it into Salah, who checks back onto his left foot before whipping a shot towards goal. He can't keep it down though and it sails over Pickford's crossbar.

Doucoure nicks it off Gravenberch, only to run straight into Szoboszlai and lose out once more. It's more patient from Liverpool at the moment, and they're keeping Everton penned back in their own half.

Salah rolls the ball slightly to the right to give Alexander-Arnold a slightly better angle from the free-kick. He gets a lot of power into it, but he strikes it straight into the Everton wall.
