Liverpool vs Chelsea LIVE: Premier League score, result and reaction from flat goalless draw at Anfield
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea: Mykhailo Mudryk made his Blues debut but neither side relieved the pressure on Jurgen Klopp or Graham Potter
Liverpool and Chelsea continued their disappointing seasons as the injury-hit mid-table teams played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Anfield in the Premier League.
Chelsea thought they had raced into a third-minute lead when Kai Havertz fired home from close range after a corner, only for VAR to rule the German offside.
Liverpool seemed shorn of confidence as they looked to avoid three straight league defeats, only creating half chances with new signing Cody Gakpo missing the best of them in the opening period.
The visitors introduced big-money January arrival Mykhailo Mudryk in the second half but, while he looked lively, the Ukrainian was unable to lift the Blues, who earned a point that leaves them 10th in the standings, with Liverpool eighth.
Relive the action as Liverpool draw with Chelsea at Anfield:
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
90 mins: There’s going to be five minutes of added time to play. Even since Kai Havertz’s disallowed goal this match has been lacking in thrills and spills.
Will we see some late drama and a match-winning goal perhaps?
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
87 mins: Can one of these teams find a winning goal? There’s going to be plenty of time added on at the end of the 90 so there could be as many as 10 minutes left to play.
Mo Salah flicks a pass into the middle of the box but can’t find a teammate and the Blues clear their lines.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
84 mins: Chance! Liverpool bring the ball down the left wing and work it across the face of goal. It curls out to Trent Alexander-Arnold who drills one back towards the target but lifts it agonisingly over the crossbar!
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
81 mins: Trevoh Chalobah goes down injured and needs a bit of treatment from the medical team. He takes the mick getting off the pitch and the referee books him for time wasting.
Graham Potter makes a few changes for Chelsea Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesar Azpilicueta all come on to replace Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and Trevoh Chalobah.
Jurgen Klopp also brings on Curtis Jones, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
78 mins: Mason Mount receives the ball on the right wing for Chelsea and spins it towards goal before cutting inside and looking to play Kai Havertz into the box.
He slips the ball past Joe Gomez but Havertz can’t beat Alisson to the loose ball and the goalkeeper leaps on top of it.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
75 mins: Trent Alexander-Arnold is introduced by Jurgen Klopp. He needs someone with more pace than James Milner to deal with the speed of Mykhailo Mudryk.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
72 mins: Conor Gallagher has had a good day today. He’s been a nuisance for Liverpool and almost gets his rewards with a pinpoint cross over to the far side of the box.
Mykhailo Mudryk sneaks in behind James Milner and tries to control the ball instead of taking a shot. His first touch isn’t great and the winger knocks it out of play.
Big opportunity wasted by Chelsea there.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
69 mins: Liverpool push up the pitch as Joe Gomez brings the ball forward. He gives it to Harvey Elliott who flicks a pass over to Mo Salah on the right side of the box.
Salah can’t bring the ball under control as Marc Cucurella piles the pressure on him. The ball squirts loose to James Milner who runs onto a first time shot and smashes it well wide of the target.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
66 mins: Jurgen Klopp switches things up now and introduces Darwin Nunez to replace Naby Keita. Harvey Elliott drops into midfield with Nunez taking up a spot on the left side of the forward line.
Chance! At the other side of the pitch Mudryk almost celebrates his debut in the perfect way. He dances into the box with the ball, weaves into space then drills a shot into the near side-netting!
That would have been some goal.
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
63 mins: Badiashile starts a move for Chelsea and gives the ball to Jorginho in the middle of the pitch. He flicks the ball on to Conor Gallagher who sends the ball out wide for Mykhailo Mudryk.
Mudryk’s first touch is top heavy though and he knocks the ball into the penalty area where Alisson marshalls it out of play.
