Paul Pogba missed a penalty as Ruben Neves’ sensational strike earned Wolves a point against Manchester United.

Midfielder Pogba had his spot-kick saved by Rui Patricio – his fourth penalty miss in a year – as United drew 1-1 at Molineux.

It came after Neves curled in a brilliant second-half leveller to cancel out Anthony Martial’s 50th United goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side missed the chance to top the early Premier League table despite a dominant first-half display.

Wolves’ second-half rally earned them a point and they now travel to Torino for the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday.

It is certainly Manchester United's game so far, with the visitors more dominant than most would have anticipated.

Daniel James picks up the ball on the right and drives at Joao Moutinho, who intelligently gets his body across and looks bemused when James propels himself to the floor. And rightly so - that's a clear dive, and Jon Moss goes to his pocket.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have a nervy moment with a bouncy ball, like patrons at an art exhibition hoping it avoids that one particularly expensive sculpture.

It does, though David De Gea has to leap to gather a hefty header back.

GOAL! Wolves 0-1 Manchester United (Anthony Martial, 27 minutes)

Beautifully crafted, and a deserved lead for the visitors!

Down the left Manchester United come, Luke Shaw inside to Jesse Lingard, Lingard further working the ball inwards to Marcus Rashford, all running forward at pace.

Rashford settles with a touch and then slips one down the side, half played for Shaw continuing his maraud, and half for a clever diagonal run from Anthony Martial, who is the man to profit, beating Rui Patricio with a sharp finish on his left foot.

That's really the first chance fo the game, but it always looked to be coming for Manchester United. They've controlled this game from the very outset, but Wolves were just starting to find some offensive threat.

Paul Pogba snuffs out an attack with a smart covering defensive run, collecting an attempted square ball on the edge of the box.

But Wolves come again, Diogo Jota levering Aaron Wan-Bissaka off the ball and causing him to lose balance.

Wan-Bissaka somehow manages to flick the ball out with his toe as he slides across the damp surface on his hands and knees, and Manchester United clear the corner.

Daniel James is quick. Like, super quick.

He has fifteen yards or so to make up on Raul Jimenez but does so in a blink of an eye, and is across the Mexican before he has time to conceive a pass, finding James' leg where the ball was and conceding a free kick.

Matt Doherty has just been limping a little bit, though a thumbs up to the bench seems to indicate he is happy to continue for the moment. Wolves can afford a laboured defender against this attacking quartet.

Seemingly every time the ball has been hoisted up into the darkening August sky it has come down on the head of Harry Maguire, and though Ruben Neves appears to have initially deceived him with a flighted diagonal, Maguire backtracks to head it up for himself and then calmly play the ball away.

Nothing particularly eye-catching from him as of yet, but just about the most solid first 35 minutes aerially you could hope for and his passing has been excellent.

Anthony Martial finished off a sharp Manchester United attack to put the visitors ahead at Molineux.

Willy Boly throws himself at a forward pass and just about manages to hook it from Anthony Martial, who is seriously sniffing a second. The Wolves defence are all blowing, sucking in big ones as Manchester United threaten with verve and vigour. This has been very impressive from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
