Midfielder Pogba had his spot-kick saved by Rui Patricio – his fourth penalty miss in a year – as United drew 1-1 at Molineux.
It came after Neves curled in a brilliant second-half leveller to cancel out Anthony Martial’s 50th United goal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side missed the chance to top the early Premier League table despite a dominant first-half display.
Wolves’ second-half rally earned them a point and they now travel to Torino for the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday.

Luke Shaw lashes into the welcoming grasp of a kneeling Rui Patricio, and the whistle has already been blown regardless, with Jon Moss spotting a foul in the buildup.
Paul Pogba has pulled his shirt up over his head, looking to the heavens beneath the cloth and wondering why. His missed penalty means it is only a point for Manchester United, with Wolves earning a commendable point and back-to-back draws to begin their season in solid fashion.
Ruben Neves produced a stunner and Manchester United's pace-packed front four gave plenty to be optimistic about - that was a mighty fine game of football.
Adama Traore's half-time introduction was a key moment. He was exceptional, and changed the game, his pace putting Manchester United on the back foot and nullifying the visitors' threat down his channel with his uber-athleticism.
A point was just about fair in the end, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be rueing that penalty miss. It looked like Pogba may have taken the ball from Marcus Rashford, though the reverse appeared to occur last week. It wasn't a bad penalty from Pogba. An excellent save from Rui Patricio, but it'll be the Frenchman in the headlines.
That'll be all for this evening, then, as Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Molineux - a fine result if recent history is anything to go by. A thoroughly engaging game of football throughout.
