Rangers 0-0 Celtic
25 minutes
Some encouragement for the home supporters as Rangers break. A loose pass falls straight to the feet of Defoe, who drives forward but runs into traffic. The hosts make two crunching tackles, to the delight of the fans, and look to spark another attack. But Defoe misplaces his pass at the crucial moment.
Rangers 0-0 Celtic
28 minutes
Edouard, deep in Rangers' half, plays the ball to Christie, who turns nicely and wins a free kick. The former takes the set piece, in a promising position, but misses the target by a considerable distance.
Rangers 0-0 Celtic
30 minutes
Some nice buildup play from Rangers ends with a clever run from Davis, who slides a neat pass into the path of Defoe. The former Spurs man works some space and curls a shot towards the far corner, but the flag is up for offside. Forster makes the save anyway.
GOAL! Rangers 0-1 Celtic (Edouard)
32 minutes
Celtic lead! A mistake from Goldson gifts the visitors the ball in a dangerous position, and they clinically take advantage. Johnston slips the ball through to Edouard, who times his run perfectly, managing to just about stay onside. And he makes no mistake with his finish, slotting the ball coolly into the bottom corner. The away fans go wild.
Rangers 0-1 Celtic
36 minutes
There are some hefty challenges going in now. The home fans are baying for blood. Jack and Bolingoli-Mbombo go into a 50-50, neither with any intention of backing out, and the latter comes off worse. The Celtic physio is on.
Rangers 0-1 Celtic
41 minutes
There's nothing subtle about this contest. Both sides are battling hard, pressing with energy and intensity. At the moment, though, Celtic have the slight edge in terms of quality. Rangers are struggling to create anything of note.
Rangers 0-1 Celtic
45 minutes
Arfield flies into a challenge and, according to referee Bobby Madden, wins the ball cleanly. But then he cynically pulls Christie to the ground. Remarkably, there hasn't been a card yet.
There'll be four minutes of added time.
Half time: That's it for the first half. It's been industrious, brutal at times, almost gladiatorial. But it's Celtic, thanks to Edouard's third goal of the season, who lead at the break. Rangers have done little to trouble Forster, so they'll need to find a spark of creativity from somewhere in the second half.
Rangers make a half-time change: Sheyi Ojo replaces Glen Kamara. Clearly, they need to do something differently in this second half.
