Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the most dramatic of circumstances to return to the top of the Premier League table and move two points clear of Manchester City.

The home side took the lead in the first half through striker Roberto Firmino, as Liverpool seized control of the match to the delight of the Anfield crowd. But Spurs started to grow into the game after the break and it was Lucas Moura who scored the equaliser to drag Mauricio Pochettino's side level.

With time ticking down, it looked as though Liverpool would end the weekend in second place behind City, but a late Hugo Lloris error saw the Spurs goalkeeper parry the ball into Toby Alderweireld, who could not prevent the deflection from crossing the line and sparking wild celebrations. Prediction...

Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

A big game for both teams, but Tottenham’s poor domestic form in recent months means Liverpool have the edge here. As they’re likely to head into the match in second place, with Manchester City playing Fulham on Saturday, the onus is on Jurgen Klopp’s side to respond with three points. Tottenham will have to stop the in-form Sadio Mane, who has scored five goals in his last three games, and Liverpool have an excellent home record against Spurs, winning five of the last seven games in all competitions at Anfield.

SECOND HALF: Liverpool 1 - 0 Spurs

Liverpool get the match back underway, a long ball up to the front men almost sees Mane and Salah in on goal but Alderweireld shuts the attack down.
