Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the most dramatic of circumstances to return to the top of the Premier League table and move two points clear of Manchester City.

The home side took the lead in the first half through striker Roberto Firmino, as Liverpool seized control of the match to the delight of the Anfield crowd. But Spurs started to grow into the game after the break and it was Lucas Moura who scored the equaliser to drag Mauricio Pochettino's side level.

With time ticking down, it looked as though Liverpool would end the weekend in second place behind City, but a late Hugo Lloris error saw the Spurs goalkeeper parry the ball into Toby Alderweireld, who could not prevent the deflection from crossing the line and sparking wild celebrations. Prediction...

Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

A big game for both teams, but Tottenham’s poor domestic form in recent months means Liverpool have the edge here. As they’re likely to head into the match in second place, with Manchester City playing Fulham on Saturday, the onus is on Jurgen Klopp’s side to respond with three points. Tottenham will have to stop the in-form Sadio Mane, who has scored five goals in his last three games, and Liverpool have an excellent home record against Spurs, winning five of the last seven games in all competitions at Anfield.

72 mins: Liverpool 1 -  1 Spurs

Wijnaldum makes a run out on the right and he gets the ball, he puts it into the box and Salah heads it out of play.

Back-to-back corners for Liverpool yield no results. Lucas Moura is replaced with Ben Davies.

Spurs get the chance to break with Sissoko and Son. There's only van Dijk to stop them he stops Sissoko from giving the ball to Son and Sissoko's shot goes way over the bar.

It's in! It's Mo Salah!

Origi wins a corner and Alexander-Arnold whips it in. Kane heads it away but the ball comes back out to Alexander-Arnold. The cross comes in to the far post and Salah heads it towards goal, Lloris spills it and it's deflected into the net!

90+5 mins: Liverpool 2 - 1 Spurs

They've done it! Liverpool have the win, their second goal will go down as an Alderweiereld own goal but they won't care. Liverpool move back to the top of the Premier League.

Tottenham played well but Liverpool threw everything at them in the closing stages and they couldn't keep them out.
