Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in June to win the Champions League for a sixth time. The Reds have meanwhile won the Super Cup more than any other English side with three wins, with their last title coming in 2005, when they beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 in the Netherlands.
Chelsea, who beat Arsenal to win the Europa League last season, are looking to win the Super Cup for the second time. Their only previous success came when they beat Real Madrid 1-0 in Monaco in 1998. Follow the latest updates below:

Chelsea on the ascendancy, they control the ball around Liverpool's area before sending it into the box, Giroud tries a spectacular overhead and sends it wide.

27 mins: Chelsea keep finding gaps in Liverpool's defensive line. Pulisic squares the ball from the right but no blue shirts advance into the box. Henderson whips a cross in at the other end of the pitch and wins a corner.

Another corner for Liverpool finds Mane who has a free header that is deflected into Kepa and Chelsea survive.

33 mins: A really well worked ball from Chelsea sends Kovacic free in the box, Adrian senses the danger and is off his line quickly to smother it. Liverpool had the run of things early on but Chelsea look the most threatening now.

36 mins: GOAL! It was coming! Chelsea have the lead! Kante drives forward and brushes off Fabinho before giving the ball to Pulisic. Pulisic draws Gomez and the Liverpool defenders to him before finding Giroud in space. He's free in the box and he puts it past Adrian.

39 mins: GOAL! wait, wait no, no goal. Pulisic is offside, a VAR check confirms it.
Chelsea send him past Gomez again on the left wing. Pulisic brings it inside and squirts the ball into the near corner of the goal.
