From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Follow all the action as Leeds United host Arsenal in the Premier League this afternoon.

Marcelo Biela’s side enjoyed a promising start on their return to the top flight, however, back-to-back defeats prior to the international break served a reminder of the challenges to come. Ten points from eight games is hardly disastrous, though, and in Patrick Bamford Leeds boast one of England’s most prolific strikers on current form.

For all Mikel Arteta’s sweeping changes at Arsenal, they are still a side afflicted by wild swings of inconsistency. Their fabulous victory over Manchester United sent spirits sky-rocketing but a horrendous thrashing by Aston Villa proved why Arsenal remain very much a work in progress. They begin the game in 14th place and need a strong series of results to bolster their top four credentials. Follow all the action below live:

Sheffield Utd 0 - 0 West Ham

27 mins: West Ham work the ball quickly from the left to right. Masuaka spins on the ball over on the left and passes up to Fornals who slips it into the right side of the box and Coufal hits a side footed shot at Ramsdale who makes the save.

Sheffield Utd 0 - 0 West Ham

9 mins: Sheffield United are using the right hand side to get the ball into the box. They seem to be able to create space over there for fun. The Blades win a corner and Fleck whips it into the box, Ogbonna gets to it first and heads the ball away.

Sheffield Utd 0 - 0 West Ham

6 mins: The are some nice balls coming over the top from the Blades, they’ve started really well. Basham is played in behind this time and he tries to pick out McBurnie in the six-yard box but Fabianski throws himself at the ball and smothers it.

Sheffield Utd 0 - 0 West Ham

3 mins: Chris Basham makes his 250th appearance for the Blades today. What would he give to celebrate with a win?

Close! A routine long ball from John Egan comes to George Baldock who has made a run in behind. He brings down the ball and shoots but Fabianski makes the save by covering the near post with his left leg.

Sheffield Utd 0 - 0 West Ham

Kick off: Sheffield United are winless this season and have only picked up one point from the first eight games. West Ham meanwhile have been hot and cold, lacking the consistency manager David Moyes is looking for. The home side kick off the match and win a throw in on the left wing.

There’s no rest for the wicked as Sheffield United host West Ham with kick off five minutes away. We’ll bring you the reaction from Craven Cottage but for now here’s a reminder of how the teams line up at Bramall Lane:

SHU: Ramsdale, Basham, Egan, Ampadu, Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Fleck, Lowe, McBurnie, McGoldrick

WHU: Fabianski, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Coufal, Rice, Soucek, Masuaku, Bowen, Fornals, Haller

Fulham 2 - 3 Everton

90+5 mins: Full time. It almost happened for Fulham but Everton hold on to the lead they took in the first minute of the game. Fulham made it difficult for them in the second half but there just wasn’t enough quality to break Everton down twice.

Scott Parker will take heart from the performance but it’s another defeat for Fulham. Everton meanwhile are back to winning ways. They’re up to sixth in the table whilst Fulham remain 17th.
