From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Scotland will be looking to bounce back against San Marino after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan.
After that shock upset, San Marino will certainly fancy their chances against Alex McLeish's side - despite being the lowest-ranked country in world football and having conceded 37 goals in their last ten matches.
Scotland must now secure a win to keep their hopes of automatically qualifying for Euro 2020 alive.

We're underway in all of the 7.45 kick offs. Can Germany respond against a resurgent Netherlands? And can Northern Ireland make it two wins from two against Belarus?
Netherlands 0-0 Germany
2 minutes
Germany have started quickly in Amsterdam. Sane bursts down the left and picks out Gnabry, who stings the palms of Cillessen.
Northern Ireland 0-0 Belarus
7 minutes
It's a lively atmosphere at Windsor Park, where Northern Ireland are on the front foot in the early stages. Belarus are likely to test them more than Estonia did, though, and they'll need to be wary of the visitors' threat on the break.
Netherlands 0-0 Germany
13 minutes
The Netherlands, after a nervy start, have grown into this game. Van Dijk, commanding as ever, has lifted his teammates and Memphis Depay is causing problems at the other end.
GOAL! Netherlands 0-1 Germany (Sane)
15 minutes
Just as the home side appeared to be easing into the game, Germany strike. Nico Schulz breaks down the left and picks out Sane in the middle. The Manchester City man gets the ball out of his feet and fires an emphatic finish into the far side of the net.
Northern Ireland 0-0 Belarus
17 minutes
No chances of note yet for either side at Windsor Park. Belarus are holding their own and look accomplished enough defensively to make things difficult for their hosts.
Elsewhere
Belgium are 2-0 up after just 20 minutes in Cyprus thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi. Roberto Martinez's side already look in control of Group I.
Northern Ireland 0-0 Belarus
19 minutes
A first chance of note for Nothern Ireland as Paddy McNair swivels on the left and hits a powerful shot at goal. Belarus goalkeeper Andrei Klimovich does well to parry it around the post.
Netherlands 0-1 Germany
25 minutes
Big chance for the Netherlands! The home side work the ball into the box and Ryan Babel finds himself one on one with Manuel Neuer. The Fulham man looks to pick out the bottom corner but his effort is too close to Germany's goalkeeper, who blocks it well.
