From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Manchester United and Chelsea meet in the FA Cup final for the third time in the tournament’s 147-year history in what is lined up to be a fiercely competitive encounter at Wembley Stadium.

In a final that pits Jose Mourinho up against rival Antonio Conte, both managers know that defeat will leave them trophy-less this season – and for the latter that could prove to be the end of his reign at Stamford Bridge. Conte is expected to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, although there is hope that an FA Cup final triumph could yet keep him at the club.

For United, finishing the Premier League season 19 points behind Manchester City has been particularly embarrassing, and having failed to win the Champions League or EFL Cup, Mourinho will be desperate to add to his extensive trophy collection with the FA Cup.

11: Chelsea are winning the ball back very well whether it's N'Golo Kante or Cesc Fabregas breaking up play in the middle, or someone else intercepting a pass. Either way, Manchester United are struggling to keep the ball.

12: Manchester United work the ball around the 18-yard box but fail to penetrate Chelsea's three central defenders. When they get the ball wide Alexis Sanchez is calling for a cross but nobody abridges. In the end Ashley Young curls a ball into Thibaut Courtois' arms.

13: Penalty appeal!

Tiemoue Bakayoko lets the ball run across his as he advances into the Manchester United box and then goes to ground with Nemanja Matic close by. The referee waves play on and replays show that Bakayoko throws himself to the floor with the smallest of nudges by the United midfielder.

15: Another penalty appeal

Alexis Sanchez picks out a lofted pass in the box, then after controlling the ball he goes to ground after Victor Moses puts an arm on his shoulder. If either of those appeals are given you would see at least ten penalties in every game.

18: Manchester United settle with a bit of safe possession in midfield after a shaky start. The ball is eventually work the ball to Alexis Sanchez who tries to increase the tempo but runs into blue traffic.

Penalty to Chelsea!

Cesc Fabregas plays a beautiful pass to Eden Hazard who skips away from Phil Jones. Hazard advances into the box and Phil Jones slides in and fouls the Chelsea man who is waiting for the contact. Jones is booked, and Antonio Conte is livid it's not red.

Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

Eden Hazard scores from the spot!

No doubt at all, as cool as you like. Eden Hazard, at the end where the Manchester United fans are house, embarks on a short stroll of a run up then calmly slots the ball to David de Gea's right as he dives out the way.
