From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. After the pain of their 3-1 home defeat by Chelsea on Sunday, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City were unable to find a nerve-settling win over Celtic at the Etihad Stadium.

City had already guaranteed a place in the last-16 but the side couldn't improve on second place with Barcelona topping Group C.

Guardiola was looking for a strong response from his side after the weekend's defeat and a convincing victory over the Hoops but he didn't get the confidence booster he was hoping for.

As for Celtic, Brendan Rodgers' side finished bottom and, as a result, head out of Europe without the chance to feature in the Europa League.

And just to remind you, City will finish second in their group, whatever happens tonight, with Barcelona finishing as winners. Celtic's European aspirations will finish tonight as well, as even victory cannot see them leapfrog Borussia Monchengladbach into the Europa League spot due to their head-to-head record.

Arsenal, on the other hand, must better Paris Saint-Germain's result tonight to end the evening as group winners. But, with PSG facing minnows Ludogorets, that seems an unlikely proposition.

So Guardiola seems to be addressing City's defensive frailties by playing three full-backs and Adarabioyo - who has only played twice for the clubs, in the EFL Cup and in the Champions League qualifying second leg game. Would it have been wiser to give his first choice defenders another chance to gel in a less-pressurised environment?
