Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barcelona meet Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League as the continue to chase a spectacular treble.

Barca came through the group stage undefeated, are top of La Liga and are into the Copa del Rey semi-finals, but they have been through mixed form in recent weeks.

Lyon managed to beat Manchester City in the group stages and will surely need a similar result here at home in order to come through the tie at the Camp Nou. Follow it live:

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 67 minutes

Thrice Liverpool cross into the box, thrice Bayern players are there to clear in the nick of time, most notably Serge Gnabry diligently helping Joshua Kimmich out with Sadio Mane in space at the far post.

Changes in Lyon.

One €100million+ player replaces another: Philippe Coutinho for Ousmane Dembele for Barcelona.

Lucas Tousart comes on for Bertrand Traore as Bruno Genesio also makes his first alteration.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 71 minutes

Niklas Sule has won pretty much everything defensively for Bayern tonight, but on this occasion can only flick out for a corner.

Robert Lewandowski performs his duties from the subsequent delivery.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 70 minutes

Close!

Luis Suarez sweeps Jordi Alba's cross from behind him with his left leg. The connection is superb, but the ball flies just past the post.

Philippe Coutinho was waiting to provide simpler finishing touches behind him, too. Barcelona really ramping up the pressure.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 74 minutes

Mohamed Salah overpowers David Alaba, winning a battle of the shoulders with the Austrian left-back, but rather running into Georginio Wijnaldum as he cuts inside onto his favoured left boot.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 76 minutes

Jurgen Klopp goes to his bench.

James Milner would have been awfully close to starting tonight, and replaces Naby Keita, who has done plenty of good things tonight.

Roberto Firmino has beben struggling a little with illness over the last couple of days, and won't see out the 90 minutes. Divock Origi takes the Brazilian's place as the forward-most prong.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 76 minutes

Cue the David Bowie.

Maxwel Cornet for Martin Terrier as Lyon look for a late winner.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 77 minutes

Whistle!

Leo Dubois does superbly again to recover on Lionel Messi after the Argentine sumptuously takes a diagonal, but the ball is worked back for Jordi Alba to thwack a volley past Anthony Lopes' goal.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 81 minutes

Half-hearted penalty appeals as Bayern deal with another Liverpool corner. It's never looked like a likely route to goal for the hosts tonight.

Niko Kovac opts for experience from the bench. Franck RIbery isn't the player he once was, but he remains a threat. Compatriot Kingsley Coman has plenty more nights like these to come, and jogs off.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 80 minutes

Plenty of European pedigree joins the fray in Lyon, too, with Sergio Roberto withdrawn and Arturo Vidal introduced.
