From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barcelona meet Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League as the continue to chase a spectacular treble.

Barca came through the group stage undefeated, are top of La Liga and are into the Copa del Rey semi-finals, but they have been through mixed form in recent weeks.

Lyon managed to beat Manchester City in the group stages and will surely need a similar result here at home in order to come through the tie at the Camp Nou. Follow it live:

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 49 minutes

Barcelona seem more willing to sit with a high line in the infancy of the second period.

A heavy touch from Lionel Messi wastes an opportunity to look for a telling contriution. The Argentine has just looked a touch off-kilter tonight.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 52 minutes

Top tackle from Fabinho.

Excellent work from Kingsley Coman to beat Georginio Wijnaldum to the byline and square for Robert Lewandowski, who controls but finds the ball slid away by an elongated Brazilian leg before he can shoot.

The camera shows Dejan Lovren, huddled in a rather vibrant red rug, peering down from one of the Anfield hospitality boxes.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 52 minutes

Memphis Depay beats Marc-Andre ter Stegen with his curling effort from the right, but similarly to Ivan Rakitic's first-half try the shape on the ball just takes it beyond the post.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 55 minutes

Andrew Robertson is set free in space, marauding down the left for the first time this evening, but Naby Keita's pass is underhit and wastes an excellent opportunity with two men over, Robertson's subsequent cross firmly spoiling the move as Mohamed Salah is forced wide.

Jordan Henderson is booked as he catches a Bayern heel.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 56 minutes

Jason Denayer has stood up strongly to the challenges that Luis Suarez has posed this evening, and again handles the Uruguayan as Suarez tries to move the ball past him.

Solid stuff from the former Manchester City academy man.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 59 minutes

Not far away at all!

Serge Gnabry unfurls a pearl of a strike with his left foot from some distance, and unfortunate that his excellent effort rises just above Alisson's crossbar with the goalkeeper unlikely to get even fingertips to the shot.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 60 minutes

Barcelona are now threatening to hem Lyon in.

The home side are rather struggling to get out, with all except Moussa Dembele inside the Lyon half.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 61 minutes

As I say that, they do get out.

It's a brilliant driving run from Memphis Depay to surge past Gerard Pique, but a somewhat heavy touch means he is stretching to cross from the byline and Marc-Andre ter Stegen gets his palms to the ball.

Harry Latham-Coyle19 February 2019 21:20

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 63 minutes

Crucial block from Leo Dubois.

Luis Suarez picks up the ball six yards from goal after enterprising work from Lionel Messi but gets the ball rather stuck under his feet, allowing Dubois the time he needs to shuffle across and block.

Good defending from the Lyon right-back.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 66 minutes

The game just seems to be in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment, with Liverpool often on the ball inside the Bayern final third but failing to find profitable avenues of exploration.

Jurgen Klopp may be considering a change, perhaps Xheerdan Shaqiri to add creativity.
