From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barcelona meet Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League as the continue to chase a spectacular treble.

Barca came through the group stage undefeated, are top of La Liga and are into the Copa del Rey semi-finals, but they have been through mixed form in recent weeks.

Lyon managed to beat Manchester City in the group stages and will surely need a similar result here at home in order to come through the tie at the Camp Nou. Follow it live:

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 84 minutes

It has been an entertaining 0-0 thus far, but 0-0 nonetheless. Just the two shots on target in the game, one for each side.

Liverpool look the likelier side to find an opener.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 85 minutes

Top stop!

Manuel Neuer has had precious little to do and thus his reaction to Sadio Mane's header is superb.

The winger gets low to head a cross to the near post, and the ball is just creeping in, but Neuer gets down to it swiftly and swats it behind.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 87 minutes

Renato Sanches is coming on for Bayern Munich in the Champions League, which seems a little unfair to Swansea fans watching given his lacklustre spell in Wales last year, which included a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

James Rodriguez has been rather subdued, and Javi Martinez recovers swiftly enough from cramp to ensure the Colombian is the man to be replaced.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 87 minutes

Barcelona are banging on the Lyon door, but a fantastic Anthony Lopes save sends them away, at least for the time being.

It seems like an eight of frustration for the Catalan side, but they'll back themselves at the Nou Camp. Resolute stuff from Lyon.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 90 minutes

Four additional minutes are signalled as Bayern Munich prepare a change.

Rafinha will get four minutes to tune up, with the Brazlian. presumably pencilled in to start in Joshua Kimmich's place for the second leg. Serge Gnabry replaced.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona, 90 minutes

Twice the Lyon wall stands tall to repel Lionel Messi.

Three minutes to run.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich, 90 + 2 minutes

Another timely tackle from Javi Martinez, who is rather stumbling about on lactic acid-packed legs. The experienced Spaniard has been superb tonight in Leon Goretzka's absence.

An exciting first half, a resolute defensive performance from Bayern Munich in the second. As you were headed into the second leg.

Harry Latham-Coyle19 February 2019 21:53

One of the better 0-0's you'll see. Lyon held on resolutely as Barcelona threw plenty at them in the second half, and showed enough on the counter particularly to suggest they can cause problems at the Nou Camp.

Harry Latham-Coyle19 February 2019 21:54

Very few would have predicted either game to finish 0-0.

Fewer still both.

And after two pulsating first-halves, to see the final scoresheet unblemished in both Lyon and Liverpool is quite the surprise.

Advantage Bayern and Barcelona, of course, with the European giants hosting the second-legs.
