Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Spending more time indoors this year has seen many of us prioritising comfort and ease when it comes to our wardrobes and right now there’s one item in particular that’s been making a steady appearance across almost all of our favourite Instagram accounts.
With their fingers firmly on the pulse of the latest fashion trends, influencers are every style fan’s go-to source when it comes to outfit inspiration.

And, while we haven’t had many reasons to get dressed up, they’re still managing to dictate what we buy.
As the season of wrapping up warm and the shelf life of our puffer coats begins to wane, what lies beneath has never been more important and the blogging elite know it.
Over the last few weeks, there isn’t a fashion influencer worth their salt who hasn’t posted a photo of them wearing one jumper in particular, with everyone from Jessie Bush of We the People Style to Alice Catherine and Monikh Dale giving it some serious airtime.
The knit in question is from Duchess of Cambridge-approved French brand Sézane and is the perfect piece to help you navigate the British weather in the coming weeks.
As brighter days loom, there’s no better way to cheer up your wardrobe, and yourself, than by investing in this season’s elevated knitwear trend, which sees little details like oversized collars and big buttons make an everyday staple look much more interesting.
Here’s everything you need to know about Sézane’s must-have micky jumper, from where to buy it to other similar styles.

Sézane micky jumper: £110, Sezane.com
This piece has been all over our Instagram as of late, cementing its place as the perfect wardrobe staple as we transition between seasons.
Made from a super-soft baby alpaca blend, the knit features trendy long puff sleeves and ribbed design with a high collar that can be fastened with buttons on cooler days or left open to show off your jewellery when the sun starts shining.
It is available in three different colours – ecru, hazelnut and khaki – and comes in sizes XS to XXL, which equates to UK sizes 6 to 18.
As well as being super-popular on “the ‘gram”, the top also made the cut in our round-up of the best women’s knitted jumpers, with our reviewer saying: “With its undeniable softness, oversized (read snuggly) cut, and button-down collar, there’s nothing else we’d want to be wearing.”
Noting that it arrived in recyclable packaging that was “sprayed with a beautiful scent we wish we could bottle up,” our tester added that “everything about this is perfection.”
Monki soft knit top: £30, Monki.com
If you love the look of Sézane’s knit but were hoping it might be a little more purse-friendly, Monki has got you covered with an affordable jumper that looks almost identical.
Just like the Insta-approved style, this long-sleeved knit features a pointed collar and three buttons that can be fasted or left open. It’s made in a regular fit from a soft, stretchy mohair-feel fabric and also has ribbed detailing.
Available in sizes XXS to XL, which equates to UK sizes 4 to 20, it comes in a neutral cream shade and a spring-worthy light blue.
