From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Xiaomi has a solid reputation for churning out high-spec phones at extremely affordable prices. Made popular in its home country of China, the manufacturer quickly gained a big fan following over in India and is now doing the same over here in the UK.

The Xiaomi Mi 10T series of smartphones launched in the UK late last year and the cheapest option – the Xiaomi Mi 10T lite – is already on sale on Amazon.

Xiaomi’s range of smartphones also include its even more affordable Redmi line, popular because they’re often cheap and cheerful. When the Redmi note 4 first released in India, it became the fastest selling smartphone of all time – shifting more than a million handsets in under two months.

As well as phones, Xiaomi makes a whole host of cheap smartwatches like the Xiaomi Mi Lite smartwatch, and even electric scooters like the Xiaomi 1S electric scooter.

If you aren’t seduced by the deal on the Xiaomi Mi 10T lite, you can read our round-up of the best mobile phone deals, which includes deals on the iPhone 12 and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. But if you’re looking to shop the Amazon bargain, read on for everything you need to know.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G (128GB): Was £299, now £209.99, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon)

The Xiaomi Mi 10T lite is a big-battery glass-back phone that brings 5G connectivity to the masses thanks to its cheap – and now even cheaper – retail price. Plus the one on offer is the model with the largest storage capacity.

It has an enormous 6.67in display with a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate – far smoother than the iPhone 12’s measly 60Hz refresh rate, for example.

The Mi 10T lite also features a 64-megapixel quad camera on the rear of the phone, allowing you to take ultra-wide photos – impressive for a mid-range budget device. There’s no optical zoom, but it does have HDR processing. On the front, you’ll get a 16-megapixel punch hole front-facing camera.

It’s powered by a decent mid-range Snapdragon 750G processor and features an octa-core CPU. There’s 6GB of RAM, which is enough memory that the phone shouldn’t start to lag with everyday usage. The Mi 10T lite also has a juicy 4,820mAh battery that supports up to 33W fast charging.

The smartphone comes in some premium colourways like Atlantic blue, rose gold beach and pearl grey. You can also get your hands on the more expensive  Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (£474.74, Amazon.co.uk) and the mid-level Xiaomi Mi 10T (£389.99, Amazon.co.uk) – although they aren’t on sale at the moment.
