From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Most of the hardware had already been revealed in several major leaks ahead of Galaxy Unpacked 2020.
Regardless, the South Korean tech giant showed off the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7 tablet, Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Watch 3, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Samsung followed Apple, Huawei and OnePlus by holding the event virtually online, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hello and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event.
There's just over 3.5 hours to go until things get started but we'll be right with you throughout the buildup bringing you all the latest rumours, leaks and everything else to expect.
A major leak by notorious smartphone sleuth Evan Blass (@evleaks) has revealed nearly everything there is to now about the products being launched today.
It includes images of the Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7 tablet, Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch 3.
The leaked videos make for a far better teaser than Samsung's recently released trailer for Galaxy Unpacked 2020.
Samsung will be hoping that its new stable of smartphones will help it reclaim its title as the world's most popular smartphone maker.
The economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic saw Chinese giant Huawei overtake Samsung for the first time last month.
Less than half an hour to go until it kicks off. The live stream (above) is already pumping out trailers on a loop.
Leading proceedings today will be TM Roh, in only his second major event since taking over from DJ Koh as the head of Samsung's mobile division.
In a blog post last month, Mr Roh said the new devices unveiled at today's event will herald a new era that he dubs "the next normal".
At this summer’s Galaxy Unpacked, we’ll be introducing five new power devices. These devices deliver on our vision to be the innovator of new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously wherever we go. They combine power with seamless functionality, whether you’re at work or play, at home or away. In the Next Normal, you will be empowered to live life to the fullest with these devices in your hand (and in your ears, and on your wrist.) – TM Roh
Alright, after a slight delay we are up and running. We start with more promotional material showing off Samsung's new 'Mystic Bronze' colour.
