PS5 Launch – Play Has No Limits

The PS5 has finally gone on sale in the UK – to the select few who can get hold of one.

The console was released in the US and some other select countries last week, but has finally had its global launch on Thursday.

The day will be marked by fans receiving deliveries of their new PlayStations. But it will also be a day on which those many people who were not lucky enough to be able to secure a pre-order will be poring through the listings from shops such as Amazon, Curry’s and other retailers in an attempt to find in-stock consoles.

Here is all the latest on the release of the console.

Amazon Germany also rumoured to be getting restock

Reports have also suggested that Amazon Germany is getting new PS5s at noon, too, and you might be able to get them posted to you elsewhere. Here’s the link for that, which also might be worth having open, though of course it’s going to be more bother than the UK one.

No word from Very as rumoured restock nears

Murmurings have suggested that Very is planning a restock at noon, as well as Amazon. But the company hasn’t posted anything about it, and there’s nothing to suggest it’s on its way.

Amazon restock nears

We’re about 10 minutes away from noon, when Amazon is said to be restocking. Get your refresh fingers ready.

(Some people have reported getting through already, seeing a message that the console is available – and then finding that it’s for sale for £999.99. Don’t buy that, obviously.)

Curry’s is also cancelling orders

Some people were actually able to buy consoles today from Curry’s. But then they had them un-bought.

Curry’s won’t sell PS5s today

After all that excitement, there is no PS5s coming from Curry’s.

Curry’s website goes down

Users are reporting that they can’t get on Curry’s now. Instead they just see an error message.

"Technical Error 500," it reads. “Sorry, we seem to have encountered a technical error.”

Very also rumoured to be restocking at noon

Very is also rumoured to be restocking some consoles at noon, though I’m not sure where that’s come from. Still, it might be worth keeping an eye on it at midday, along with Amazon, which has specifically said that its consoles will be arriving then.

Very had said on Twitter that the console would be “available to order tomorrow from mid-morning”. But it did note that it would be limited.

Curry’s comes back to life – but with no consoles

Some users are now able to get onto the Curry’s website, but there’s no console there waiting for them. Instead, it’s just a list of accessories, with a “new” sign that suggests they may indeed have been restocked.

Appears that might be a false alarm. But you can at least get some new accessories for your non-existent console. Link here.

Curry’s fails to load

Curry’s PS5 page is failing to load. Not clear whether that’s because it’s down, sold out, or both.

For what it’s worth, Curry’s had been forced to postpone its launch, and announced it in a tweet earlier today.

“Our 9am go live for the PS5 is unfortunately on hold. We’re really sorry as we know a lot of you are really excited to get your hands on the PS5, we are hoping that it will go live later today," it wrote.

It promised more updates but they are yet to come. So the 11am launch might just have been a rumour.

How to buy from Curry’s

If and when the PS5 does go live at Curry’s, it should be available at this link here.

Probably a good idea to get it loaded and ready to refresh now, if you’re very keen. May the odds be ever in your favour, and so on.
