From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The LA press conference is the first stopover in a lightning-quick press tour to promote their upcoming Las Vegas superfight, which will take place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Four days. Four cities. Three countries: the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Fans will be able to attend the press events for free, and for English fight fans, there are still tickets available to watch the two men calling one another out at Wembley.

McGregor raises his hand in the air and smiles, and the crowd go absolutely wild and start singing his name. Old Dicky Sturm is still trying to battle away over the noise. Poor bloke.
Richard Sturm finishes up. Cheers.
And now time for Dana White. He's loudly cheered.
"WHAT IS UP LOS ANGELES!" he shouts. He then introduces Conor McGregor. Here we go!
"BABY WE DID IT!" he shouts.
"This boxing conference is different to what I'm used to. I'm honoured to be here. Somebodies 0 has got to go.
"He's in a tracksuit, he can't even afford a suit anymore! He is f*****.
"I'm going to knock him out inside four rounds, mark my words."
McGregor: "I'm just enjoying myself. That's it. He will be unconscious in four rounds. He's never experienced someone like me. I don't fear him. This is a limited set of rules that makes this half a fight, a quarter of a fight. If this was a true fight, it wouldn't even take one round.
"How does my suit look? If you zoom in on the pinstripe it says f*** you.
"They're trying to catch me off guard. I didn't even know I had to give a speech. F*** it.
"I don't give a f*** about his rules. I'm just enjoying it. This is funny. I'm feeling so good! Shout out to my son, Conor Jr, watching from back home."
McGregor: "Nobody has done this s*** before. Nobody. You have to give me credit."
Mayweather beings thanking the UFC fans. He's loudly booed, again.
Mayweather is still going.
"I'm not the same fighter I was 10 years ago. Or 5 years ago. Or 2 years ago. But I've got enough to beat you.
"We know that Mr Tapout likes to quick. He can choose which way he wants to go. Either on his back or or on his face.
"He should sit quietly, the little bitch. You can get it right now."
"You want me to give it to him right now," Mayweather asks. "Nah, we need to save that for the payday."
After a very ropy start, hampered by the fact McGregor had a mic when he clearly wasn't meant to, Mayweather has recovered.
They're about 1-1, I think.
