From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Murray returned to SW19 for the first time on Thursday evening winning his first match in two years at the All England Club in the opening round of the men's doubles. Today he was set to get his mixed doubles campaign underway with 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams in what promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament. However Cori Gauff, the 15-year-old breakout star of the tournament, saw her match with Polona Hercog on Centre Court go to a third set meaning the blockbuster duo were made to wait.

Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 4-1 Hurkacz*
A love hold by Hurkacz gets the Pole on the scoreboard in this third set, and Djokovic wins to 30 despite Hurkacz's resilience and continued string of superb shots on the run.
Still, Djokovic has a three-game lead.
*Hercog 1-2 Gauff
A double fault from Gauff hands her opponent break point, but Hercog fails to capitalise and sends a forehand beyond the baseline. Deuce.
She takes advantage with a neat pick-up, that Hercog can only return as far as the net, before sealing the game with a thumping serve that the Slovenian sends wayward.
*Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 5-1 Hurkacz
DJOKOVIC BREAKS!
That should be the third set wrapped up for Djokovic. A break to 15, as Hurkacz goes wide with an ambitious angled volley.
Djokovic will now serve for the third set...
Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 6-1 Hurkacz*
DJOKOVIC WINS THE THIRD SET!
A hold to 15, and the initiative is back with Djokovic in this match.
He has a two sets to one lead...
*Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 6-1 2-1 Hurkacz
DJOKOVIC BREAKS!
Following two holds, Hurkacz falters, and a forehand long hands Djokovic the break.
Normal service resumed.
Hercog 3-3 Gauff*
Compared to her previous two matches, the American is being made to work for this. She’s just about hanging on in the face of Hercog’s stinging forehand shots and thumping serves. It seems like the 28-year-old may be targeting her opponent’s backhand but the teenager is giving as good as she gets. We’re still on serve here.
Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 6-1 3-1 Hurkacz*
Djokovic holds from 15-30, and the Serb is fully in control now, in rallies and on the scoreboard.
*Hercog 4-3 Gauff
BREAK! It's Hercog who draws first blood. After moving the game to advantage with a deft volley from the net, the Slovenian drew her opponent into a lengthy rally that had the SW19 crowd sucked in, breath held, wondering who would pull the trigger. Finally, after successive forehand exchanges, it was Hercog who made the decisive move, switching the direction of play to outfox the American and inflict the first break of the match - as well as Gauff’s Wimbledon campaign.
*Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 6-1 3-2 Hurkacz
A double fault at 30-30 hands Djokovic an opportunity, but Hurkacz (not once, but twice) saves himself, and he clings on...
