From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Murray returned to SW19 for the first time on Thursday evening winning his first match in two years at the All England Club in the opening round of the men's doubles. Today he was set to get his mixed doubles campaign underway with 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams in what promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament. However Cori Gauff, the 15-year-old breakout star of the tournament, saw her match with Polona Hercog on Centre Court go to a third set meaning the blockbuster duo were made to wait.

Djokovic 7-5 6-6 Hurkacz* (3-1)
This is simply incredible tennis from both men!
Djokovic has the early mini-break, before another long, sensational point has the Pole winning it with a reaching volley - Djokovic looks shellshocked!
The defending champ then double faults, and nets a backhand on Hurkacz's serve. The 22-year-old has a two-point lead...
*Djokovic 7-5 6-6 Hurkacz (3-3)
Djokovic takes control on the next two points though, winning with a smash and a pin-point backhand drop shot.
All-square at the changeover - what next?
*Djokovic 7-5 6-6 Hurkacz (4-5)
Djokovic goes long with a backhand, and challenges it unsuccessfully. After an incorrect challenge on the first serve too, the Serb is now out of challenges.
Djokovic responds though with a forehand winner for 4-4, but an ace from Hurkacz means he's two points from victory...
Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) Hurkacz*
HURKACZ WINS THE SECOND SET!
Another Djokovic drop shot catches his opponent by surprise for 5-5, but a net cord forces Djokovic into the net at 5-5, and a delicious backhand pass down the line gives the Pole SET POINT, on his own serve...
And he takes it! A big serve out wide, and an easy forehand put-away, means we're all-square on Court No.1!
Who saw this coming?
*Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 2-0 Hurkacz
DJOKOVIC BREAKS!
A comfortable hold to start things off, before a break to 30 as Hurkacz starts sloppily in this set. Saw that coming from a mile off - the momentum has been halted.
The four-time champion has the early break...
Cori Gauff is over on Centre Court where she goes up against Polona Hercog. Will her remarkable run at Wimbledon continue? We'll find out over the next hour or so. Here's hoping she does!
Djokovic 7-5 6-7(5) 3-0 Hurkacz*
Djokovic holds, a dead net cord at 30-15 effectively putting the game on a plate for him.
Hercog 1-1 Gauff*
Looks like it might take a bit of time for the American to settle into this one. She's already made a fair few mistakes - overcooked shots, netted forehands and whatnot - but this naturally to be expected from a 15-year-old... playing at Wimbledon... on Centre Court... in her first ever Grand Slam... in front of thousands.
