From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A vintage display from Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon 2019 final in an eagerly-anticipated first grass court match between the great rivals for 11 years on Friday.

The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-61-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday's showpiece

*Djokovic 6-2 4-6 5-3 Bautista Agut

Bautista Agut asks the question, as he comfortably holds to love.

Biggest game of the match so far - Djokovic serving for the third set...

*Djokovic 6-2 4-6 5-3 Bautista Agut (40-0)

Only one real chance for Bautista Agut so far at 15-0, but he sends his pass wide.

THREE SET POINTS!!!

A double fault. What.

Two more set points...

DJOKOVIC WINS THE THIRD SET!

This time, it's Djokovic who gets the dead net cord on set point! A forehand volley clips over, and with that the Serb is a set away from the Wimbledon final!

It's been 2 hours and six minutes of captivating tennis - don't write off Bautista Agut yet though...

Djokovic 6-2 4-6 6-3 0-0 Bautista Agut* (40-40)

Djokovic lets out a huge scream of frustration after overhitting a return at 30-30!

He storms back though, with a pinpoint backhand down the line into the corner. Deuce.

Another thrilling rally, both men from side to side, until Bautista Agut sends a drop shot into the net!

Right shot, poor execution, BREAK POINT!

Djokovic 6-2 4-6 6-3 0-0 Bautista Agut* (40-40)

BREAK POINT SAVED!

A forehand angle, and a backhand volley crosscourt. Well done Mr Bautista Agut.

Back to deuce.

Djokovic 6-2 4-6 6-3 0-0 Bautista Agut* (ad Djokovic)

No let up from Djokovic. A drop shot, and a backhand volley into the open court. Toyed with him there.

BREAK POINT NO. 2...
